‘Bid
a Sum’ to ‘Give a Sum’ for the world’s sexiest man
Robbie
Williams, the King of Brit Pop, fresh with a hat-trick of
Brit Awards this year, which includes that of Best British
Male, Best British Video and Best British Video for Rock DJ,
placing him at the top of the countrys pop rack, announced
the auction of some of his prized possessions to raise funds
for the Give a Sum charity set up by him.
The personal items of one of the worlds sexiest men,
who has dominated the Brit pop scene with nine awards before
these three, will now be auctioned for charity. Bidding for
Robbies most prized possessions will begin online on
March 17, with the live auction taking place on April 10,
at Sothebys London. All proceeds from the auction will
go directly to Give it Sum, the charitable fund
set up by Robbie Williams and administered by Comic Relief.
Robbie Williams fans will be able to log on to www.comicrelief.com/robbie
and www.robblewilliams.com to view exclusive pictures and
video clips of the auction lots, and find out more about his
Give it Sum fund. Highlights will also be available
at www.sotheybs.com/robbie.
The Bid it Sum live auction lots will include
Robbies king-size bed and his personal Technics decks.
The items included in the live auction will be the original
hand-written version of Robbie Williams epic hit single
Angels (expected to fetch in excess of 6,000 pounds), as well
as the jetpack from the Millennium video, to the guitar from
the Let Me Entertain You video, to his ice-skating suit from
Shes the One as well as costumes and props featured
in his Rock DJ and Supreme videos.
The Bid it Sum online auction will run from the
March 17 to April 11, and will be sold on www.sothebys.com/robbie.
The sale will include a large quantity of autographed memorabilia
including football shirts, as sported by Robbie on the sleeve
of his multi-platinum selling album Sing When Youre
Winning, posters, awards, T-shirts and other personal items.
Online estimates will start at $75. The online auction can
be also be accessed via www.comicrelief.com.
Robbie established the Give it Sum fund with the
money he received from his Pepsi sponsorship. He asked Comic
Relief to administer the proceeds of the Give it Sum
fund, making sure his revenue from his Pepsi deal reached
those causes closest to his heart like Great Ormond Street
Hospital and UNICEF.
Robbie shares Comic Reliefs commitment to tackling poverty
and promoting social justice. The Give it Sum
fund works within the principles at the heart. Robbie says,
The whole point of the fund is to tackle some of the
problems associated with poverty and to address some of the
social injustices in the world. Im starting in Stoke
on Trent, my hometown. Its not an area youd immediately
think of but its become pretty depressed lately with
high unemployment and worsening poverty. Id like to
give people both young and old (and those in between) a chance
to do something for themselves. Now, to raise some more money
for Give it Sum, Im auctioning off a lot
of the stuff Ive collected over the years. Some of these
things are really personal to me, whilst some are a little
more famous (look what they did for me).
