Jazz
it up!
Jazz music lovers make a beeline for the last two days of
the Jazz Fest India -- 2001! To be held at Sophia Bhabha Auditorium
on March 12 and 13, the fest will showcase jazz groups from
Lithuania, Australia and Japan. The groups include The Hoodangers
who will regale the audiences with the ever popular old, traditional
jazz and Dainius Pulauskas Sextet who have come to India after
tasting great success all over Europe. Along with them are
Fay Victor and Yuki Saga. While Fay Victor will be accompanied
by the Louis Banks Trio, Yuki Saga will present popular standard
jazz repertoire.
An equal music
An accomplished musician Ariane Gray-Hubert explores and
reveals through original programmes the correspondence between
various musical traditions. On Monday, March 12, she will
present Moods By Twilight in a programme that includes works
by Brahms, Chopin, Schriabine, Satie and Debussy. In an effort
to stimulate new cultural exchanges, Gray-Hubert has initiated
a series of musical events concerning different themes in
France and abroad. In 1997 and 1998 she was invited to take
part in major festivals in India and innovated music exchange
programmes in Occidental and Oriental traditions.
Branded
literature
Jagdeep Kapoor's new book 24 Brand Mantras has hit the stands.
Aimed at helping marketeers to develop winning brand strategies,
it presents 24 action-oriented mantras which can help to launch,
build, rejuvenate and grow successful brands. Culled from
the author's vast experience as a marketing professional,
the mantras are formulated to provide satisfaction to the
consumer as also to create wealth for the marketeer. Well
illustrated with real-life examples of brands, the book makes
for the successful articulation of a winning brand strategy.
Matching
steps
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations and Max Mueller
Bhavan present Uber Kreuz (Crosswise) by Reinhild Hoffman
and Suzanne Linke. It has been 20 years since these two great
women of the German dance scene have been seen together on
stage. However, they have had many professional meeting-points
over the years. Both trained at the famed Folkwang School
at Essen, which they co-directed later. The title Crosswise
suggests horizontal and vertical meeting points in space,
but allows each of the two characters to retain their own
identities.
The
