T-Series acquires audio rights of a Maithili film
Super Cassettes Industries Ltd. has acquired the audio rights of a Maithili Film Aao Piya Hamar Nagri for the first time. Renowned singers like Udit Narayan, Anuradha Paudwal, Sapna Awasthi, Deepa Narayan Jha and Gyaneshwar Dubey for the first time have rendered songs in Maithili language.


UP Govt’s notice to BBC’s Channel - 4

The UP Government has issued a notice to the British Broadcasting Corporation’s Channel-4 on January 18 over the misuse of powers given by the administration to film the Kumbh Mela. According to a UP Information Department official, action was being taken after a public outcry and comments in the media over the unfair coverage of the Kumbh Mela.


NRI will present Kama Sutra series

British India comic actor Saanjeev Bhaskar is to present a three part series on the famous Indian tales on love Kama Sutra for BBC’s Channel Four TV soon. A spokesperson for the channel said that the purpose for the series was to take a look at the historical and cultural impact on the Kama Sutra in India and in Britain.


Helen on the small screen

Golden girl, Helen who’s seen doing a film or two occasionally is now all set to grace the small screen with her presence. She’s playing a mother and grand-mother in Do Lafzo Ki Kahani, a serial produced and directed by Kushan Nandy.


Rahul Roy on the tube

Sattee Shourie and Mona Kapoor are for the first time making a daily soap for Zee called Kaise Kahoon. A story of a woman caught in the whirlpool of emotions between her husband and his family, Kaise Kahoon has Rahul Roy now making his debut on the tube.


Kiran Bedi acts

For the first time, ace police officer Kiran Bedi has acted in a short film titled The Real Salute. Kiran Bedi enacts a patriotic woman who finds the national flag lying in a public place. She picks it up, mends it and gives its true salutations.

This 30-minute film will be telecast on Doordarshan’s national network and the Metro channel and will also be dubbed in other languages for the regional channels. Illayaraja has scored the music for the film produced by RR Gopal of Malar Network and is directed by Gunashakthi.
