If music be the food of love

Play on

Love is in the air. It’s the month for lovers, and Cupid is in town. With the whole city going romantic on Valentine’s Day, we decided to speak to some music personalities, and ask what does love mean to them, and what importance they attach to Valentine’s Day

ANU MALIK:

Love is one of the means of living to me. I cannot survive without love. To me Valentine’s Day is a reminder of the fact that my heart keeps beating to the rhythm of love. I inhale love and I exhale love. I feel a woman is the ultimate symbol of love. They are God’s finest creation and they are a replica of his idea of love. Some might think it is lust, but I always see love, whenever I think of a woman. I love my wife and both my daughters, who are more important than anything else to me.

I think the Lionel Richie number Hello is the best song for an eternal romantic like me.

ANAND BAKSHI:

I think love is responsibility. When you feel responsible for someone, it is love. Speaking of one of my romantic songs, the first one which comes to my mind is Hum tum ek kamre mein band ho from Bobby, though its a little naughty. Of course the number Aksar koi ladki is also a favourite.

HEMA SARDESAI:

Love is more of giving than taking. It is faith, fun and friendship. The song Yeh haseen waadiyan from Roja is a very romantic song, and I think it is perfect for a couple on Valentine’s Day

LALIT (of JATIN-LALIT):

Love is eternal happiness. It involves a lot of trust and to me it is a source of inspiration. This Valentine’s Day, it is for my better half to decide the way we spend the day, I haven’t thought of anything so far.

SHAAN:

At this point of my life I am happily married, and to me love seems to be more of taking up for each other, and never feeling like you are putting up for each other. Valentine’s Day is, of course, a special day for me and my wife Radhika, and this time we plan to be away from the city. Usually ever year, I have a show or some event on February 14, but this year I shall be enjoying a romantic getaway.

SUNIDHI CHAUHAN:

What can I say? I’m too young for all this stuff. But when somebody talks about love, the first thing that comes to my mind is music. Music is love, and love is life. It is everything everybody needs. I guess it is very important that there should be good understanding between lovers.\

SAJID:

I can tell you one thing for sure, love comes real expensive these days.
WAJID: I believe love is what keeps you alive. It gives one the energy to live. Love can also be termed as a desire to possess. Actually there is no definition for love, everyone has his own ideas about it. Basically, it is the thing in life which keeps you going on.

BABUL SUPRIYO:

Well, I am not supposed to think about love anymore, I am married for six years now, and my wife has put a full stop to my thoughts. Actually, love is something which grows with a person. In my case, it has grown with my family. Before I was married, I had different ideas about it, but now I realise that love cannot be divided. It grows as you grow, and it becomes a part of you.

SONALI RATHOD:

To me, love is being in tune with my husband in everything, including music. It should be a sureela relationship. I have been through teenage love with Roop and it is a great feeling. We are very much compatible and even now we have people telling us, "You guys seem to be too much in love with each other."

PREM:

Love is the best thing to have ever happened to man. Just like you need air to breathe, you need love to live. No one can survive without love. This Valentine’s I plan to be with my wife, and have a candle-light dinner.
As told to Lopamudra Bhattacharya
