Music
maestro Naushad was honoured by the Government of Uttar Pradesh
with its highest honour, Shaan-e-Awadh, at a function held
in Lucknow recently. Naushads first film as music composer

of Hindustani Sangeet, which proposes to start a school where
new talent will be trained in Indian classical, semi-classical
and light music and instrumental music. The Academy will give
scholarships to needy and deserving students. It will also
start a library, which will maintain recorded music, literary
work in classical music and reference material. Another object
of the Academy is to give medical assistance to old and needy
musicians. The Academy also has plans to give annual awards
in the field of classical music.
