Meena, who sang a pop album with Manoj (son of Bharathiraja), now sings with Vikram for a love album. Is it a reversal of the days when actresses sang on the screen in their own voice?

Kamal and technology go hand in hand
Kamal Hassan is one who is in tune with modern technology. Recently, when a song was to be recorded for Abhay, he got lyricist Vairamuthu to come down to Ooty where the shooting was in progress. With the lyrics he flew to Mumbai and handed it over to music director Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and told them to compose it. He then left for Delhi to shoot in the December cold. The tunes were sent to him and he lent his voice to it in a studio in Delhi and the finished song reached Chennai where the unit flew back to sit on it and rehearse for the dance movements.

Dedication thy word is Kushboo!
Taking rest from films and playing with her new born baby girl Avantika, Kushboo got a call saying that she was needed for a few shots in the film Vinukum Manukum (which she completed before her going on maternity leave) and pronto she landed up on the sets with her baby and finished her shots with Sarath Kumar. She is soon to produce a TV serial and is on the lookout for scripts. Hubby Sundar C, busy with films, might take a few tips from wife in cutting costs.

Madhesh turns producer
Director Shankar’s long time associate Madhesh who was also the producer of Muthalvan (produced under the banner of S films), has become an independent producer and launched his film Chocolate on New Year day with Prasanth in the lead with A Venkatesan as director. Reema Sen, who plays the lead in Minnalay was to be the leading lady in the new film but has now been dropped because she is reported to have asked for a hefty sum.

Vasundhara signs another film
Vasundhara Das, who hit the top spot with her song Shakalaka Baby in Muthalvan and her role in Hey Ram is currently acting opposite Ajith in Citizen. At the press briefing of Citizen, she revealed that she had sung and acted in an album Meri Jaan which is about Shahjahan dreaming of building a Black Taj Mahal near the white Tajmahal that he built for Mumtaz. She is also acting in Mira Nair’s Monsoon Waiting.
