Sunil Dutt in Gujarat

Sunil Dutt, MP, was one of the first from Mumbai to rush to the aid of the earthquake victims in Gujarat, though his doctors and physiotherapist had tried to dissuade him from making the trip. Dutt also donated Rs 10 lakh from his constituency fund for relief work.
 



MP govt cracks down on vulgarity

The Madhya Pradesh government has suspended the licences of several theatres in the state, including Starlit, Shri Krishna and Praful in Indore, Rajshri Talkies and Krishna at Shujalpur, Amar Talkies at Sehora and Apsara Talkies, Bhopal for screening vulgar films and uncensored interpolations.

 


Entertainment One launched

Govind Nihalani, Praveen Nischol, Prakash Jha, Romesh Sharma and John Mathew Mathan have launched Entertainment One, a company that produces feature films and TV software. Adlabs holds a 25 per cent stake in the outfit.

 
 

Theatre gutted
The Ahmedabad multiplex, City Gold has been closed after two of the complex’s theatres were affected by a fire on January 24.

 

Mohabbatein tapes seized
Mumbai cops from the Wadala police station seized tapes of Mohabbatein from Guddu Cable Network of Siti Cable after a tip-off that the network was illegally screening the film.


T-Series signs Jassi

Super Cassettes Industries have signed Punjabi pop sensation Jassi to sing for three forthcoming albums for the company.


Docufest in Mumbai

Vaastav — The Reality, a festival of short documentary films is to be held at The Club, Mumbai from March 8-10. All the films have been produced by TVE (Television for the Environment), a London-based NGO.
