rajiv paul
A product of the small screen

Movies have always fascinated me and I would love to act in films if I get the
opportunity

He is a familiar face on television today. Starting with Parivartan, a few years ago, he went on to do roles in serials like Thoda Sa Aasman and Jaane Kahan Mera Jigar Gaya. It was his role in Swabhimaan that established Rajiv Paul as a television actor.

A commerce graduate from Ajmer, Rajiv calls himself a product of television. "It was Tinnu Anand who encouraged me when I came to Mumbai, he has been like a Godfather. I remember him telling me, one day small screen will be big in India and that I shouldn’t be refusing the offers I get."

Rajiv took Tinu’s words seriously and ever since, there has been no looking back. Presently he is doing Tanhaiyan on B4U, which is a middle-class family drama. He is also playing a negative role in Abhimaan on DD 1. Rajiv says he enjoys playing different roles because they help him grow as an actor.

"Though my character in Abhimaan has a darker shade, people’s reaction to it has been very positive. I have been able to prove myself through this role," he says.

His soft looks and expressiveness have him playing lead roles in a lot of romantic stories. Nargis on Channel 9 starring Mayuri Kango and Aasif Sheikh, is another love-triangle in which Rajiv is seen currently.

Rajiv’s childhood was coloured with celluloid dreams. "Movies have always fascinated me and I would love to act in films if I get the opportunity. Right now, I am happy with my work. Television is so much a part of my life, in fact I met my wife, on the sets, while I was shooting for a serial." Delnaz, his wife is a well-known TV artist. She even works in plays.

"I believe in nature, you get what you deserve," he says. "I am working hard to come across as a good actor. Hope my wish for doing films is fulfilled.
