Khiladi 420

No remake, this!
THE latest one in the Khiladi series starring Akshay Kumar, producer Keshu’s Khiladi 420, is Neeraj Vora’s directorial debut. “The film is an action packed thriller, which also has a fair bit of comedy,” says the director. Neeraj has worked as an assistant to Abbas-Mustan. Having a theatrical background, he has worked on the Gujarati stage before he ventured into films as a comedian.
Starring Mahima Chowdhury opposite Akshay, the film also has the likes of Sayaji Shinde and Mukesh Rishi in key roles. Model turned television actor Sudhanshu Pandey makes his debut in films with Khiladi 420.On the sets at The Royal Palms, Mahima shoots for the scene of a children’s party. The little girl on the chair is the birthday baby.

Music for the film has been composed by Sanjeev Darshan and lyrics are by Sameer.

The film has been shot is Filmistan and The Royal Palms in Mumbai and a great deal of shooting has been done in Canada.

Specializing in stunts, Akshay has performed some hard-to-imagine feats in the film. There is a scene where he stands on top of an aeroplane about 8000 feet above the ground, and jumping off it. “The daredevilry,” says the director, “left even the Hollywood technicians in awe.”

Rumour circulating in the industry has it that the film is a remake of the Gujarati play, Mahapurush. But the director insists it is every bit an original. He says the team has made effort to futher enhance the Khiladi image that has been created, thanks to the cooperation of producer Keshu and Akshay. The scripting has been done by Neeraj, who narrated it so well, that it was Akshay who suggested he (Neeraj) should direct it as well.

Dolling up for the shoot: Mahima.

Keshu Ramsay, the Khiladi behind the Khiladis.

Direction is not an easy task. Khiladi is a brand by itself. Now it’s my turn to establish my identity with this brand
Neeraj Vora.

I play a cop, Mahima’s childhood friend who’s secretly in love with her
Sudhanshu Pandey.

I play a character who is very cunning. I haven’t come across such a cunning character ever before
Akshay.
