Sapru to quit SABe TV, may join Reliance

Sri Adhikari Brothers Television Network CEO, Rakesh Sapru is quitting the company. He is tipped to join Reliance Entertainment as its Chief Executive Officer. Though company officials denied that Sapru was leaving, sources said he had asked to be relieved from Sri Adhikari Brothers Television Network as early as possible. He will complete two assignments before he moves on, sources added. "He is likely to remain with SABe TV till December 31," an official in the company said. As Sri Adhikari Brothers is a listed company, Sapru’s resignation will come up before the board.

The company will then make an official announcement and inform the stock exchange. Sapru has met Reliance Industries’ brass and will soon have a final talk with Reliance Entertainment Vice Chairman Amit Khanna. Among other considerations, Reliance Entertainment wants to appoint a Chief Executive Officer soon. "He can’t serve a three-month notice period if he wants to join Reliance Entertainment. The company can’t wait that long to have a chief executive officer," a source close to the company said.

Sapru has other offers including a top post in an insurance company. He has experience in the finance sector and has worked with HSBC. Before joining Sri Adhikari Brothers Television Network, Sapru was with General Electric and was in the team which launched CNBC, a business channel. He joined Sri Adhikari Brothers early last year and was a key factor in working out a strategic alliance with Turner International to distribute SABe TV.
