Maajhi Suhaasini
It takes three to tango!
PASAYADAN Chitras Marathi offering, Tuch Maajhi Suhaasini,
said to be a romantic triangle, has been duly certified by
the Central Board of Film Certification and the makers of
the film are planning its release in January 2001 at the start
of the New Millenium. According to director Satish Randive,
the film centres round three main characters a village
youth who goes to Mumbai and becomes a cop, a village maiden
who loves him but does not express it, and a mod city girl
with whom the cop gets romantically linked. The theme is full
of ups and downs in the lives of the trio. Who finally wins
over the youth is the crux of the story. By the very nature
of its theme, the film has a rural-urban backdrop and appears
to be aimed at cinegoers in both regions.
The three main characters in the story have been enacted by
Ajinkya Deo, Varsha Usgaonkar and Alka Athalye. The rest of
the cast is headed by Sulabha Deshpande, Chandrakant Gokhale,
Ravi Patwardhan, Uday Tikekar, Dr Vilas Ujawane, Supriya Pathare,
Alka Inamdar and Pinky. Rajshekhar and Babanrao Gholap make
guest appearances. While the story and screenplay are by Ramesh
Zende, the dialogues have been penned by Pratap Gangavane.
Lyrics by Jagdish Khebudkar have been set to music by Nandu
Honap. Cinematographed by Prakash Shinde and Chinubhai Shah,
it has been edited by Shyam Gupte. Audiography by Anil Nikam,
art by Manohar Achrekar and action by Akbar Sharif are the
other credits. The film is a Damodar Mhatre, Pravin Gaikwad
presentation.

MAHALAXMI Productions multi-starrer emotional family
drama in Marathi, Tuch Maajhi Bhaagyalaxmi, has been released
from Novermber 17 at Punes Apollo Cinema (daily 3 shows)
and three other suburban Pune theatres: Jayashri at Chinchwad,
Vaibhav at Hadapsar and Ashok at Pimpri. It also opened on
the same day at Chitramandir Cinema in Nashik.
The film is somewhat of a musical, too, having nine songs,
all written by Jagdish Khebudkar and set to music by Nandu
Honap. Produced by Mulchandbhai V Patel and directed by Pitamnbar
Kale from a story by Hitesh Patel, it has screenplay and dialogues
written by veteran Ram Kelkar, the film has been cinematographed
by Bhupendra Pandya and Raju Shukla and edited by Ashok Patwardhan.
The dances have been choreographed by Subal Sarkar. It stars
Ramesh Bhatkar, Deepak Deoolkar, Kuldeep Pawar, Aishwarya
Narkar, Vijay Chavan, Prema Kiran, Ankush Choudhary, Avinash
Narkar, Surekha Kudchi, Poojangi Borgaonkar, Jr Dada Kondke,
Rajni Chavan and Upasana Singh, who makes her debut on the
Marathi screen with this film.
