Time Pass
Youthful entertainer

Producer-director Dasarath wrapped his film Time Pass in an unusual way. For the climax scene, director Raghavendra Rao sounded the clap while EVV Satyanarayan directed the shot and Tamil director KS Ravikumar participated with the artistes in the last scene of the film. Popular TV anchors Jogi Brothers make their debut with Janardhan Maharshi and Ajay as buddies and Ashasaini plays the female lead.

It has story, screenplay and dialogues by Janardhan Maharshi and lyrics by actor-writer Thanikela Bharani. After Bachelors, Telugu filmmakers are opting for simple English titles and according to the director, the title reflects the mood of the film.

Director Dasarath said, “The songs of a two-minute duration convey the story and if the audience walk out during these songs, there are chances of missing the narrative. We competed the film in 40 days and are planning to release in the last week of November”.

Usha Kiron Movies’ 50th launch

Directors K Raghavendra Rao and SV Krishna Reddy conducted the pooja at the launch of Usha Kiran Movies 50th venture which has Srikanth, Raasi and Malavika in the lead.

Director Muthyala Subbiah disclosed that the success of non-starrer films like Chitram and Nuvve Kavaali has put additional burden on him. “After working as an assistant to my mentor T Krishna in Pratighatana, I couldn’t make a film under this banner. Now it has materialised. It’s a love story with other elements and basically revolves around three characters”. Comedian Brahmanandam, AVS and LB Sriram also star in the film which has music by SA Rajkumar and dialogues by Thotapalli Madhu. Srikanth is back in news after the success of Ninne Premisthe.

Sparsa

Dubbed from Kannada

Director Sunil Kumar Desai’s Kannada film Sparsa is now being dubbed in Telugu by producer Janardhan. After editing the Kannada film, Janardhan procured the dubbing rights. It is slated for release in November.
Declared a hit in Kannada, the film has Sudeep, Rekha and Sudharani as young lovers. Director Desai known for his tasteful films like Beladingala Baale expressed his willingness to direct Telugu films and further claimed that this subject would impress Telugu viewers.

Impressed by her principles, Sudeep falls in love with Sudharani. But later walks out of her life, unable to adopt her principles in his life.

Editor-turned-producer Janardhan said, “I liked the film while editing it and felt that it could be a success even in Telugu. It fits into the current trend for love stories. I hope it will do well in Kannada as well”.

The film has music by Hamsalekha with dialogues and lyrics by Venelakanti.

Unmaadi
About a serial killer
Producer Ramkrishna Goud’s pycho-thriller Unmaadi is ready for release in the last week of November. It is another low-budget film which was wrapped in a specified schedule by director T Krishna. Character actor Surya plays a psychopathic killer. His disturbed childhood makes him a serial killer. According to the producer, Surya has breathed life into the character. The producer also acts as the police officer who finally tracks down the killer. It has Sushva and Rajani in the female lead.


Budget Padmanabam

Remake of the Tamil hit
The team of Jagapati Babu and director SV Krishna Reddy who have delivered many hits like Subalagnam and Sardukupodamrandi are teaming up once again with Budget Padmanabam which was recently launched at Annapoorna Studios. Producer Gnandi Narayana Rao’s maiden production is a remake of the Tamil hit by the same name with Ramya Krishna, who is back into Telugu films after a brief stint in Tamil and Kannada films, in the female lead. She also starred in the original version. New girl Vidya, Bharani and LB Sriram also star in the film penned by Divakar Babu.

Jagapati Babu who has delivered an hat-trick of hits said, “It is a different role of my career and is very close to reality.”

Inspector Vikram

Suman’s friend produces film
nSuman is starring in producer Sobha Sivasankaran’s action film Inspector Vikram for which the start-to-finish schedule is progressing briskly. Newfinds Charulatha and Rupa play the female lead. The producer is a family friend of Suman’s who had assured him that he would work in his film wherever he decided to produce. Apart from being a tale of an upright police, it is also a murder mystery. Director Prakash Rao claimed that the shooting would be wrapped up in 20 days with songs to be picturised in December.

Srihari’s new film
Though many regular producers are wanting to make films with Srihari, the actor is being choosy and is working with producers who are going through a lean phase. A sensitive person, he is utilisting his popularity for lending a helping hand and now it is the turn of veteran distributor Lingamurthy. In his hey days, he was highly respected by most of the Telugu producers. He was also known for his straight-forward business dealings. Srihari learnt of this respected man through writer Posani Muralikrishna and decided to do a film for him.
K Lingamurthy presents Jayaiswara Movies untitled film which was launched recently. Deviprasad makes his debut in this action film with Srihari in the lead with rest of the cast to be finalised soon. It is being produced by Jayakrishna and it has script and dialogues by Posani Muralikrishna. Regular shooting would commence once everything is finalised.

Tamasha
Big break for
newcomers
Director Sivanagu who made his debut with the multi-starrer Nehru turns producer with his forthcoming film Tamasha. He stated that he would like produce atleast four low-budget films every year with new artistes and technicians. According to Sivanagu, seventy percent of the shooting is complete. The film stars all the leading comedians of the Telugu filmdom alongwith newfinds Anil Raj, Satish, Sidharth and Ravindra. It will also be introducing director Sundar. Maanya is playing the female lead.
Sivanagu said, “It’s a female-based subject narrated in entertaining way. We are doing some graphic works in a folk song to attract children and it will also have popular numbers of big stars to attract masses. I am planning to commence my next film from December 15”.

Subavela
Ramana comes back
After delivering hits films like Chitram, Mudumukalata and Nuvve Kaavali, Usha Kiron Movies has commenced shooting for yet another film introducing new faces and a director. Director Ramana of Ram Gopal Varma camp made his debut with Paapakosam but it failed to launch his career. Now his friend Teja who rose to limelight with Chitram is helping him with the script. He will also be cranking the camera. Ravikanth and Anasuya make their debut in this teenage love story with Bharani, Delhi Rajeswari, Uthej and Rallapali also in the cast. It will mostly comprised of technicians who worked for blockbuster Chitram.

Maa Anaiya
Tale of siblings
Maa Anaiya is the title of Dr. Rajsekar’s next film. After completing the shooting, the unit has left for Austrlia for song sequences. Music director SA Rajkumar has retained all the original tracks composed for Tamil version Vanathaipol since it was also a musical hit. Apart from Rajsekar in dual roles it also has Meena, Deepti Bhatnagar, Vineeth and Bramaji in the main lead and it is being helmed y Ravi Raja Pinisetty. The title seems to be apt since it is tale of a brother who works hard to bring up his siblings. He remains a bachelor for their sake.

According to one of the producers Belamkonda Suresh of SRS and Saiganesh Productions, the film would be released in end November after wrapping up the balance work.

Doraa Vayasu Chinnadi
Carries a message
Five Star Creations mass masala movie, Doraa Vayasu Chinnadi, directed by Malayalam direector P Chandra Kumar is due soon. Starring Jayalalitha, Abhilasha, Ragini, Sukumar and Dilip, the film deals with the love life of three girls who are deceived by conmen. It carries a message like all films of this genre, that one should know the difference between love and lust before falling into love with the other sex, says producer Ramakrishna Reddy. Ammiraju has written the dialogue and E.M. Nageswara Rao edits the Telugu version of this Malayalam movie presented by Master Harsha Vardhan.

Sridevi Movies untitled film
Shoot to end by February
The Balakrishna-Anjala Zhaveri-Shilpa Shetty starrer, Sridevi Movies Production No 5, commenced another shooting schedule from November 1 at Hyderabad. Said producer Anitha Krishna: “In this schedule at Hyderabad we will be picturising key talkie portions and one song. The schedule in January, 1st to 25th, at a forest location, will mark the completion of the shooting, barring the filming of two songs. The two songs will be shot in some picturesque location in February. We plan to release the movie in the first week of April”.

Prakash Raj, Sudhakar, Brahmanandam, Mallikarjuna Rao, Satya Prakash, Bhupendra Singh, Venkat, Sumitra and Swati are also in the cast.

Story, screenplay and direction are by Arun Prasad, while the dialogues have been penned by Ramesh-Gopi. Music by Mani Sarma, camera by Jayanan Vincent, fights by Vijay and editing by Nandamuri Hari are the other major credits.

Dinosaur in Telugu
Columbia Pictures Dinosaur is dubbed into Telugu by producer RK Bhagwan who plans to release it on November 17. Says Bhagwan: “It is totally a technicians’ marvel. Ninety minutes of computer graphics thrill the audience. Just to shoot the meteors falling from the sky which lasts on the screen for four minutes, a whopping sum of Rs 34 crores was spent employing 54 computer engineers. The forest scenes were shot for seven months in the thick jungles of South Africa, Canada, USA and the Amazon forest range. We are releasing the movie under the Columbia Pictures distribution network”.

Muddistava

Suspense laced with romance
The Tamil Mutham is coming to the Telugu screen as Muddistava, a mass masala film offered by Gayathri Movies. The film’s director S Kumar says that ace cinematographer Ashok Kumar’s son, Prashanth Agarwal, plays the hero while the Kama girl Urvashi is cast opposite him in a glamour role. There is suspense, laced with romantic interludes, in this commercial movie which is mainly aimed at entertaining the audience, young and old alike. Aradhya cranks the camera and Raja Bhaskar provides the musical score.

Devatha
Graphics, major attraction
Meena plays the goddess in Surya Vision’s Devatha, directed by amanarayana. The graphics for the movie were done by Indian fame Marudu. “The eleven minute graphics are a major attraction. There is child sentiment besides conflict between the devotee and goddess which takes interesting turns,” says presenter M. Purushotham. The film is produced by C. Balasundaram. Divya, Charan Raj, Ramki and Senthil are also in the cast.

Ms. XYZ
On women’s lib
G Star Movies, a new banner, has launched a trilingual, Ms. XYZ, in Telugu, Tamil and Hindi. Says producer Kalyan G, “We have commenced the shoot in Tirupati. As per the dictates of the subject, we have taken newcomers for the lead roles. The theme revolves round women’s liberation.” Jyoti, Soni, Anusha, Aravind, Krishna, Radhakrishna, Master Kiran and Narendra are in the cast. Directed by Kumar, the film has story and screenplay by Anvesh, lyrics by Prof Yellareddy, music by Pallavi and camera by Murthy. Sekhar is the executive producer and M Venkateswara Rao (Saranga Talkies) is the presenter.
