Azaad celebrates platinum disc

Nagarjuna, who scored an hat-trick with the success of Azaad, participated in the triple platinum disc function of the film at Vijayawada. The Venkateswara Palace wore a festive look and die-hard fans thronged the place to have a glimpse of their favourite star. Producer C Aswini Dutt, known for his lavish productions, has not compromised in any way in making it an wholesome entertainer peppered with a patriotic message. Soundarya and Shilpa Shetty play the female lead with Raghuvaran and Prakash Raj in key roles. It is director Tirupathsamy’s second hit film with good music by Manisarma. The audio released by Supreme Audio Company had record sales of cassettes and the film is doing very well all over the state.

The police had a tough time controlling the fans and Nagarjuna’s speech was lost in the noise created by them. Later, his fan association felicitated him with huge garlands. Sudeep, the city police commissioner, who was the chief guest, praised the patriotism in the film. Veteran journalist Kutumba Rao also participated in the function.

Happy amongst his fans, Nagarjuna said, “I feel thrilled to see happiness on the faces of my fans when my film is a hit. Though patriotic films are considered dry, I took it up and enjoyed doing it. After Shiva and Annamayya, this is one of the best films in my career”. Later, the Vijayawada Press Club organised a Press meet.

Journalists expressed varied opinions about the film since the fictitious character Azaad is created by a journalist to eradicate evil forces.
