Hey!
Ram is Oscar-bound
CHENNAI: Kamal Haasans directorial debut film, Hey!
Ram, has been recommended as the Indian film for the prestigious
Oscar Awards by the central committee constituted by the Ffilm
Federation of India (FFI).
The committee has been entrusted with the task of selecting
and recommending a film for Indias entry to the awards.
The panel headed by South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce
president A Kothandaramiah, had, as its members, Ajit Bhattacharya,
Anjana Ramesh, PK Bose, Chitra Lakshmanan, TN Janakiraman,
K Murari, NS Murthy, K Nandagopal Chetty, Sushma Shiromanee,
BS Dwarakish, and Prabhat Pandey, according to a film chamber
press release.
The recommendation was forwarded to the FFI after the committee
viewed the following films between November 6 and 11: Maa
Baap Bhulao Nahi, (Gujarati), Astitva, Hum Saath Saath Hain,
Jaanwar, Mohabbatein, Mission Kashmir and Hey! Ram (Hindi),
Kochu Kochu Santhoshangal, Madhura Nombarakattu (Malayalam),
Bharati, Sethu (Tamil), Bhadri, Chaala Bagundi, Thommidi Nelalu
and Rayalaseema Ramanna Chowdhury (Telugu).
