Mohabbatein, is Y2K’s
second blockbuster

The film industry has heaved a sigh of relief with the Diwali release of Yash Chopra’s Mohabbatein doing steady business in the second week also in all theatres in India and abroad. However, the other Diwali release -- Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Mission Kashmir has done well only in Mumbai, doing ordinary business at other centres. While Mohabbatein will fetch an overflow from all circuits, Mission Kashmir will be an average film in most other territories.

Mohabbatein

The film should fetch at least Rs 8 crore to 10 crore in Mumbai. The second week collections in Mumbai was 99.93 per cent from 13 cinemas while from Vapi, it showed 99.94 per cent collections. All 28 shows are full in Jamnagar. In Solapur it maintained 100 per cent collections in the second week. Even in Delhi, the film took 100 per cent collections in the second week. So also in Lucknow and Akola. The film grossed more than Rs 33.62 lakh in the second week in Calcutta. In other words it is creating box-office history in many theatres all over India.

 

Mission Kashmir
The second week collections of the film in Mumbai came down to 81 per cent from 95 per cent. It collected 76 per cent from Jaipur.

Kurukshetra
Mahesh Manjrekar’s Sanjay Dutt starrer, Kurukshetra opened last Friday to a good start in Mumbai, although it had an ordinary start on other circuits.

Aakhri Dacait
The routine tale of dacoity starring Dharmendra took a poor opening in Mumbai.

JIs Desh Mein Ganga Rehta Hai

In the fourth week, the film collected 50 per cent in Mumbai.

Godzilla 200

The film collected 19 per cent in Mumbai in the first week.

Dinosaur
It collected 33 per cent in Mumbai in the second week.

X-Men
This film collected 19 per cent in the first week in Mumbai.

Life is Beautiful

The film did a business of 62 per cent in Mumbai in the second week.

This Week

Kahin Pyar Na Ho Jaaye is the lone big star cast film due to open this Friday. Other films due for release this week are Bindiya Maange Bandook and Ek Raat Mere Saath (dubbed).
