Adventure Fest in Calcutta from December 9

By Our Correspondent
CALCUTTA: At twelve, the International Adventure Film Festival (India) is out of knee pants and clearly out of the blocks. We are now of an age to drink our milk straight, firm in our sense of who we are, yet still youthful enough to regularly re-examine our sense of the planet.

The 12th edition of International Adventure Film Festival (India) taking place, as usual, at the beginning of December (9 and 10), in Calcutta, will bring a wide range of works from the world of cinematography and adventure sports including human adventure.

New developments in technology will be sure to offer a striking picture of how adventure sport has evolved in recent years. This is a cultural event that should give film and adventure buffs great satisfaction, not only because of the continuous effort that has gone into its creation over the last eleven years, but also because the central theme of the film contest deals with all aspects of adventure sports.

Says Kalyan Chakraborty, the festival director, “While including photographic exhibitions and other events like seminar and open discussions, the 12th International Adventure Film Festival, the only one of its kind in India, will be mainly dedicated to the acknowledgement of all that has been done by the media to promote and encourage this Festival. Film is a medium which is particularly attractive to young people and therefore it becomes a useful vehicle for encouraging youth to take up adventure activities. This is, without a doubt, one of the main objectives of the Festival.”
