Ek Rishta

Explosive father-son tale

If there is one thing that has degenerated like nothing else has in recent times, it is the bonds of love, the bonds of all kinds of human relationships. They are not what they were when the world was a better place, when the people of the world were determined to develop the world in all its forms into a world which would be strongly based on the various human relationships. The various bonds developed between man and man, between man and woman, between the bonds of love developed by man down the ages, the bonds of love, the only bonds that can save man from any further degeneration, even destruction of the world which is growing, developing, improving in all kinds of scientific, electronic and other fields both in the world we are living in and the other outer world we are trying to discover, to explore, find out all the chaos and confusion we are gradually creating circumstances that are snatching, snapping, stamping out some of the most beautiful relationships that have kept human civilisation alive today. We Indians would have been barbarians and beasts without these strong bonds of love which, according to the world, are stronger than they are anywhere else in the world of today.

Shree Krishna International’s Ek Rishta - The Bonds Of Love is all about the relationships, the conflicts and the commitments between a father and a son and all those who are connected and close to them.

The young and forever on the move, director, Suneel Darshan who last directed Jaanwar, has created a casting coup by bringing Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar together for the first time. Amitabh who has been looking for a suitable role to suit his age strongly feels this is the ideal role for him. “It’s a very big challenge for me, an actor of an earlier generation to face a popular actor like Akshay who is growing better with time. This is one of the roles I am looking forward to.” For Akshay Kumar who has all the reverence for “The Big B” who is playing my father. It is a challenge for an actor craving for challenges, a life-time challenge I don’t think I will find again. That’s why I am putting my whole life into this role playing the son of the real baap of acting is not going to be an easy task but I am in a mood to come up with my best as an actor.

When does one get a chance to face a colossus like the Big B, the supremo.
Suneel says he became a director with “the only dream” to direct ‘the King of acting’ one day. I have a powerful subject with fascinating roles for both the legend and Akshay and the way things are going between them, I can already see that I am making a good, wholesome, healthy film. Suneel who is also the writer of, Ek Rishta - The Bond Of Love, is also the producer and so can do all the best things I can do, whatever way I want to make the film, my dream film I want to make.

Suneel has a very formidable cast (besides Amitabh and Akshay) in Raakhee, Juhi Chawla, Karisma Kapoor, Mohnish Bahl, Simone Singh, Ashish Vidyarthi, Anang Desai, Sharat Saxena, Malay Chakravarty, Brijesh Hirje, Mayur and Kunika among others, all of them bonds within bonds, good bonds and bad bonds.

Suneel has also gone out of his way to get Nadeem-Shravan to score the music. The team in charge of the music of the film flies to London to work on the music with Nadeem “and the results are fantastic. You will say the same when you listen to it” - (Sameer, the lyricist).

Suneel, the son of the veteran filmmaker Darshan Sabharal, and brother of director Dharmesh Darshan, is out to make his “greatest dream come true”. He is working very hard, is in an inspired state.

He wanted the title, Rishta, but he couldn’t because producers Indra Kumar and Ashok Thakeria already have the title. So he has a new title, Rishta - The Bonds of Love. They had also planned to make a film with the Big B, but couldn’t for reasons only they know.

Sunee, in the meanwhile, is going full steam ahead to make a film that will strengthen the bonds with talent, success and popularity. He can not let the bonds he has formed be affected in any way - the bonds of love which can bream all barrier, fight all battle and win.
