toasts ’s SCREEN's yeoman service to industry
Trade
leaders from all over the country have sent in congratulatory
messages to SCREEN, on its 50 years of service in the
cause of the showbiz industry.
During its 50 eventful years, SCREEN has played
a memorable role in the battles the film industry has fought
in securing an honourable place under the sun. The business
of entertainment, in general and cinema in particular, owes
a great debt to SCREEN for having lent a helping hand
in its struggles for rational and integrated development,
said Santosh Singh Jain, president of the Central Circuit

With the first talkie Alam Ara in 1931, music became an integral
part of Hindi films. Each film after that was loaded with
songs, meaningful ones, in keeping with the situation in the
film. Prabhat’s Maya Machchindra and Pratima had 44 songs
each, and all were classical songs. Bhakti songs in Sant Tukaram
were equally popular. Alam Ara had the hit song De de Allah
