AP
govt solicits software from producers
By BVS Prakash
HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh government has written to the
Telugu Film Producers Council, asking producers to provide
software for their proposed educational and development satellite
TV network. It has asked interested producers, who already
possess the rights for educational programmes, to send their
resume alongwith VHS tapes containing samples of their previous
work. The council which received the letter a few days ago
has acknowledged the receipt of the same and they intend to
send copies of it to all their members shortly, since test
transmissions to the network are to commence shortly.
The channel intends to telecast programmes which are of instructional/enriching
nature for a wide target audience including school children,
distance learners, teachers, farmers and self-help groups.
It is surprising that the AP government has solicited the
services of producers of mainstream films for the educational
software, and it remains to be seen how they respond to it.
