Rajasthan Film City project is revived

By MP Garg
JAIPUR: For the first time, a high-level delegation under the leadership of Bina Kak, minister of state for art, culture and tourism, and senior officials Lalit K Pawar, secretary, tourism, Mahendra Surana, medical and health director and film magnate, Surendra Golecha, as members, visited Mumbai to meet the bigwigs of filmdom.

The industry delegates, consisting of Ramanand Sagar, JP Dutta, Rakesh Roshan, Rajkumar Barjatya, Shakti Samanta and Yash Chopra expressed interest in the Rajasthan film city project.

The first such film city in Rajasthan is to come up at Jamdoli near Jaipur, selected due to its strategic location amidst idyllic natural scenery, hill ranges, waterfalls and lush green environment, by a team of film magnates like Jayantilal Gada, Dr Chandraprakash Dwivedi, Santosh Singh Jain, Kamal Mukut and Surendra Golecha. The team had visited three sites: Jamdoli, Sitapura and Achrol before plumping for Jamdoli.

The site selected for the film city belongs to Jaipur Development Authority, which will develop the area and make the allotments on lease and hire.
