ASHA'S NEW POP ALBUM
After a successful run with her first remix album Rahul and I, Asha Bhosle is back with another pop album. Leslie Lezz Lewis has scored the music this time too and the album is called Jaanam Samjha Karo. The lyrics for this eight song effort have been written by veteran lyricist and Dada Saheb Phalke award winner, Majrooh Sultanpuri. As usual, the customary music video is also ready and it features super-hunk Milind Soman with the svelte Helen Brodie. Jaanam Samjha Karo, is expected to hit the music stores soon. Roop denies rumours of turning composer The phenomenal success of the song Sandese aate hai in Border has brought to the fore a singer who has been ignored for long by the industry Roop Kumar Rathod. Roop, a brother of composer Shravan (of Nadeem-Shravan duo) and playback singer Vinod Rathod, first made an impression under composers Laxmikant-Pyarelal in Mahesh Bhatt's Sanjay Dutt-Sridevi starrer Gumrah, and again with his brilliant rendering of some classically-based numbers in Plus Films' Bhairavi. But the poor marketing of the music and the failure of the film didn't help Roop much. And he continued with his passion for ghazals. But, now with Border and Sandese aate hain the highly talented singer is in the reckoning in a big way he has already recorded a number of songs with composers like Anu Malik, Jatin-Lalit and Anand-Milind. Apparently, this has disturbed a few contemporary singers, and to Roop's chagrin, rumours are afloat that he is more interested in composing, and that he is not too keen on singing! A disturbed Roop told Screen, "I don't know who is spreading this strange rumour. I have no plans to become a composer. I had only composed one song for a producer friend long ago, when I had a lot of time on hand." Right now, emphasised Roop, he is "only interested in singing". And he is getting busier by the day singing.
