‘Aa Dekhen Zara’ is a film about a struggling photographer, Neil Nitin Mukesh, who has nothing going for him... until he inherits a very 'special' camera from his grandfather which changes his life in a way that he could not have imagined in his wildest dreams. His life becomes one big roller coaster ride that takes him from rags to riches and also helps him meet the love of his life, Bipasha Basu, who is an exciting DJ with a mind of her own.

Music India met up with the duo, Neil and Bipasha, who talk about the music of the film and the title track that Neil himself has sung. Bipasha has elaborated on how she totally identifies with her character who is a DJ and a self made girl, something Bollywood has not seen before. Neil spoke of the wonderful locations and the breathtaking action executed in the film.

Highlights of the interview:

When asked what part of the script appealed to her the most, Bipasha said that it was the story and screenplay that attracted her and the fact that it was a very simple story about the main protagonist (Neil Nitin Mukesh) inheriting a camera.

Bipasha also says that she identifies with the character of a DJ (Simi) that she plays in the film because of the similarities. Says Bipasha “Simi is somewhat like me because she comes from Kolkata, she’s a Bengali, she is a modern girl, who is independent and who aspires to be somebody, who wants to achieve in life.”

When asked about the music in the film, Bipasha singles out her favorite track as ‘Rock the party’. She also enjoyed shooting in Bangkok for the song ‘Gazab’.

She says that she had a very good experience working with Neil Nitin – “a fantastic actor, extremely dedicated and has tremendous knowledge about filmmaking. “I’m, pretty much taking a friend back home after this film” says Bipasha.

Neil Nitin Mukesh talks about an action scene in the film where he had to jump off backwards nine floors onto an air bag. A piece of advice he offers the viewers – “Don’t try these stunts, they’re very well coordinated”.

Neil has sung the title track, ‘Aa Dekhen Zara’, of this film and says that he along with the music director decided to keep the RD Burman and Kishore Kumar flavor alive in the song.

When asked about his co-star Bipasha, Neil says that working with Bipasha is bliss. “She’s extremely disciplined and cordial, chemistry comes very naturally with her. At the same time she’s great fun and at tense moments she bursts out into her pranks and we all get entertained” says Neil.
