Some marketing whiz has called it the first murder mystery set in the Antarctica. The real mystery is why at all the film was made.
US Marshal Carrie Stetko has just been sent to investigate a body on the ice in sub-zero Antarctica, which is confronted with its first homicide. A shocking discovery in itself, it will plunge her into more mysteries which include a Russian plane and the revelation of secrets long-buried under the endless expanse of ice — secrets that someone believes are still worth killing for. As Stetko races to find the killer before he finds her, winter is already closing in. In the deadly Antarctic whiteout, she won’t see him till he’s a breath away.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Four script credits and yet we have a convoluted mindless film. Dominic Senna’s direction is completely clueless. Nothing about the film is impressive or tolerable, to say the least. Kate Beckinsale and Tom Skerritt just about manage to survive icy happenings in the script.
The camera captures the landscape with a perfect eye.
Verdict
Half for direction. Half for performances. One for a few good shots and effects.
