I am impressed with the movie Wake Up Sid.This is a film of our youth and in India they make up more than 70 per cent of the population. Wake Up Sid is a coming-of-age film and targets our growing urban youth. Ayan Mukerji, the debutant filmmaker, displays all traits of a successful director. Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Sid’ is a restless young college student more interested in comics and music magazines than his text-books. He is arich, spoilt brat who enjoys life to its utmost, a spend- thrift who lavishly burns money on parties and college friends. He comes across Aisha, enacted by Konkana Sen from Kolkata from a very ordinary background, who has her dreams and aspirations as a writer. Sid and Aisha become friends through they are poles apart. After a quarrel with his rich fatherbecause of his aimless ways, Sid moves in with Aisha. The treatment makes the film worth a watch, even though there is nothing extraordinary in the story.
