CREATIVE QUOTIENT
This all-new animated spectacular marks the return of Tinker Bell and her fairy friends in their second magical movie together, following the success of the debut film in the Disney Fairies Franchise, Tinker Bell. In the latter, audiences heard the voice of the world’s most famous fairy for the first time, till then she spoke with the tinkling of bells.
Tinker Bell is thrilled as she is selected by Queen Clarion for the prestigious task of creating the Autumn Scepter commemorating the rare Blue Moon. Her well-meaning dust-keeper friend Terence tries to help, but Tank loses her cool as things go wrong and the precious, fragile blue moonstone is shattered. To fix it, Tink embarks on a perilous journey to find the enchanted mirror of Incanta, but along the way, she discovers there is no greater treasure than a true friend.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Tinker Bell And The Lost Treasure is an enchanting adventure that follows the impetuous Tinker Bell in a new tale about the value of friendship. Imaginative ideas and exquisite execution are the key to the success of this second full-length feature about the petite fairy born of laughter, and there is nothing as powerful as good storytelling and engaging characters.
Tinker Bell is a fairy with an attitude, and with her skin-tight green strapless short gown, blonde hair scooped into a casual bun, transparent delicate wings, pixie ears and saucer-blue eyes is an appealing protagonist.
It is the extraordinary detail of the reality that makes the visuals such a joy. There’s a cuckoo clock from which a blue cricket pops out, chamomile tea is made using a pink hibiscus flower, there’s a 21-butterfly salute, there are fish blowing bubbles and the Fairy Tale Theatre whose orchestra comprises frogs, beetles and ladybirds with cymbals. Tink’s quest to find the magic mirror begins in a dandelion hot-air balloon and there are some hilarious moments involving her new friend Blaze, a little glowworm whose eye-rolls and body language express his thoughts more aptly than words. As for the two Trolls at the Troll Bridge; they are a scream.
A host of award-winning actors and singers from the stage and silver screen bring life to the animated characters - including Lucy Liu, Raven- Symoné, Jesse McCartney and Academy Award winner Anjelica Huston; while fresh talent Mae Whitman voices Tinker Bell.
As in a Walt Disney film, the animation lends itself to the film. Tinker Bell And The Lost Treasure is so in keeping with the tradition - vibrant colours of nature and deftly animated movement.
Verdict
One for animation. One for voice talents. One for story and direction.
