Casting coup
One fine day, I got a call from my modelling agency in the UK stating that the producers of Veer had seen my pictures and were interested in casting me in the film. I confirmed the offer within 24 hours and landed up in Mumbai a few weeks later.
First shot
After intense dance rehearsals, my first shot too is a dance sequence! It is a fantastic song that also features Salman Khan and adds to the film’s mood. However, I cannot really discuss the details since the film is still in the second schedule.
Stepping-stone
It’s definitely got to be my winning the Miss UK title. Before that, I was a Radiology student spending my time in hospitals. But with my wining the beauty pageant, a lot of people from the glamour world took notice, including the producers of Veer.
Stumbling block
Initially, I was worried about dancing and delivering my dialogues in Hindi but that did not deter me from taking up the offer. I have already learnt a little Hindi, starting with ‘Namastey’.
Lessons learnt
I think my biggest lessons so far in Bollywood have been about dancing and Hindi. They are certainly the most crucial elements for a newcomer in the industry. Fortunately, I am doing better in both the areas with every day.
Matinee idol
When it comes to Bollywood, I think Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif share a great chemistry and as such, they are my favourite actors. Back in Hollywood, Julia Roberts is my all-time favourite.
Future projects
I have just got my first break in Bollywood and that too opposite Salman Khan. I think it is a great start. As of yet, I have not signed any new projects. However, I believe in genuinely considering offers that come my way without any preconceived notions.
