Creative quotient
Star Wars: The Clone Wars is the first animated film in the Star Wars saga. Clone Wars are the epic battles fought throughout the Star Wars series between the corrupt Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance.
The story for The Clone Wars is set between the time period of the narrative of the films Star Wars II: Attack Of The Clones and Star Wars III: The Revenge Of The Sith. The clone wars are waging in full force engulfing many planets in the alliance and empire. Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor) are leading the charge for the clone soldiers, but isolation on the planet Christophsis holds them in a jittery situation.
Instead of reinforcements in the form of Republican battle ships a lone ship arrives which carries Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein) who claims to have been sent by Yado to help Anakin.
The film continues the Star Wars saga and focuses on the struggles of the series' protagonists in fighting the Galactic Empire. Though the Star Wars series itself is bordering on being stretched out of proportions, it still has entertainment value at least for diehard fans.
Technical expertise
The biggest complaint about the film is its animation. In a world where films like Ratatouille and Wall-E are setting skyscraper like benchmarks in animation detail and expertise The Clone Wars features animation of yore. Creator George Lucas claimed it was deliberate and intended as homage to '60s and '70s TV shows like Thunderbirds , Batman And Robin and Fireball . But, end of the day, there is no denying that Lucas' latest endeavour lacks pristine execution.
The latest Hellboy II featured some jaded animation techniques, which used wooden characters but their execution gelled well with modern technology. In The Clone Wars ' case the characters genuinely lack emotions and seem down right clunky.
End of the day, like the world has already pro-claimed it, Star Wars: The Clone Wars can be safely labeled as a pre-cursor to the upcoming animation series on TV.
