Akshay Kumar recently suffered an ear injury while shooting for Sajid Khan’s Housefull at Madh Island, Mumbai. The actor had to shoot an underwater scene in which he had to dive into the deep end of the pool and due to the sudden impact, a lot of water entered his ears, injuring his eardrums. Though Akshay experienced excruciating pain, he still went ahead and shot the entire day. It was only later in the night that he was admitted to the hospital and a specialist was called immediately. Akshay was advised bed-rest for 10 days., but as he had to report to the sets of his new film at Baramati, a special chopper was arranged for his travel. Akshay, who was also recently awarded a Katana for excellence in martial arts, sent a written petition to the Sports Minister, M.S. Gill, requesting that Karate be made a compulsory subject in the educational curriculum in schools. He argued that just like Martial arts were taught widely in the South- East Asian countries, India too should adopt a similar policy.
