Shah rukh khanKing Khan has dubbed the prologue for the Hindi version of the Mammootty-starrer movie.
Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has dubbed the prologue of the Hindi version of multi-lingual film 'Pazhassi Raja', a film on the revolutionary hero from Kerala.

King Khan has dubbed the prologue for the Hindi version of the Mammootty-starrer movie, which is releasing simultaneously in five languages including Hindi and English.

When the film's director T Hariharan approached Shah Rukh for the movie, the actor readily agreed to do the prologue without even charging a penny.

Praveen VC, Executive Producer of the movie says, "Shah Rukh comes from the family of freedom fighters and feels happy to be associated with such project."

The makers of the movie are keen on taking the best from the industry and in no condition are willing to compromise on the quality. The Tamil prologue of the movie was also given its due worth when superstar Kamal Hassan dubbed the prologue. The Malayalam original has Mohanlal introducing 'Pazhassi Raja' to the audiences through a 45-second prologue, Praveen said.

The film is about 'Pazhassi Raja' played by Mammootty, a native king of Waynad in Malabar area of Kerala. He is said to be one of the first freedom fighters who started a guerilla war against the British.

Apart from superstars Mammootty and Sarath Kumar, the film also stars, Manoj K Jayan, Thilakan, Padmapriya, Kanika and Jagathi Sreekumar in other pivotal roles.

Please do not bring the word Kottayam Royal Family into any discussion for such a kingdom did not exist by Critical Malayali on 2009-10-05 10:17:31.327206+05:30 Over and over again a historically false term "Kottayam Royal Family" is being brought into discussions concerning the film Pazhashi Raj or Pazhassi Raja. Kottayam of today's Kerala is in South Kerala. It was first created as a revenue district by Travancore king, Marthanda Varma, in 1754, when he extended his kingdom northwards from deep south and annexed Thekkumkur and Munjanad. Later he added Devikulam to the newly formed Kottayam. During British Raj, Kottayam was part of upper Travancore, with a Diwan Peshkar, who reported to the British Resident, with the consent of the Travancore king. Travancore like Cochin were princely states. There was NO kingdom by the name of Kottayam in North Kerala, known as Malabar District during British Raj. The most powerful rulers had been Zamorins of Calicut. The British had helped Hindu rulers to oust Tippu Sultan of Mysore. It was the areas which had been annexed by Tippu Sultan that became Malabar District during British Raj.

Stick to facts about Pazhashi Raj since the movie claims to be historical by Critical Malayali on 2009-10-02 16:23:45.685241+05:30 For a start, the title of the movie in Malayalam is Pazhashi Raj and not Pazhassi Raja. Illayaraja is not a king simply because his name ends as Raja. The present districts in Kerala which corresponds to Malabar District of Madras Presidency during British Raj starting in 1795 are: Kannur, Kozhikode (Calicut), Wayanad, Mallapuram and Palakkad (Palghat). These are areas which had been annexed by Tippu Sultan, and freed by the British at the request of Hindu rulers at the time. The most powerful Hindu ruler in Malabar District i.e. North Kerala were Zamorins. Other small feudal rulers had been Arrakal and Kolathiri. But all of their territories had been annexed by Tippu Sultan before British began their direct rule in 1795.The Princely State of Travancore in the South consists of today's districts - Idukki, Kottayam, Pathanamthitta (until 1982 a part of Kottayam), Alapuzha (Allepey), Kollam (Quilon) and Thiruvanathapuram (Trivandrum). Kanykumari dist was part of Travancore before 1956.
