SRK beats Hollywood, bags 18 lac-a night suite

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan bagged the most exclusive suite at the opening party of Dubai's Atlantis Palm Jumeirah, leaving behind a host of Hollywood celebrities.

The over Rs 18 lakh-a night exclusive suite, suspended between the resort's two towers, was initially slated for talk show queen Oprah Winfrey but when she pulled out from the party, it went to King Khan, the ‘Daily Mail’ reported.

Shah Rukh is the most famous film star in Middle East.

Hollywood legend Robert De Niro a partner in the Nobu restaurant chain which has a site in the resort - had to make do with an over 11 lakh-a night presidential suite.

While film stars Lindsay Lohan and Charlize Theron bagged Rs seven lakh-a night suite in Lost Chambers submerged, alongside one of the world's largest aquariums in the depths of the Atlantis resort with a bedroom view of 65,000 sharks, rays and fish, the paper said.

The opening of Dubai's Atlantis Palm Jumeirah, a man-made island shaped like palm tree, was attended by over two thousand film stars, pop stars, supermodels and billionaires from around the world.

The highlight of the ceremony was a performance by Australian singer Kylie Minogue and her 113-strong dance troupe on the beach.

Minogue's performance was followed by a one-million-rocket firework display with 100 computer-guided rockets, seven times bigger than Beijing Olympics, which is the largest firework display till date.

Guests included film stars such as Robert De Niro, Charlize Theron, Denzil Washington, Mischa Barton and Lindsay Lohan, supermodels Agyness Deyn, Petra Nemcova and Yasmin Le Bon, musicans Janet Jackson, Lily Allen and Shirley Bassey, sports legends like Michael Jordan and Boris Becker and some local royalty - the Royal Family of Dubai among others.

I am a muslim as well, and what sharukh khan did might have been a waste of money BUT what you people are saying about him disgusts me. My point is this: If you people keep criticizing people this way, and only have a negative perspective on everything such as "srk has a hindu wife and therefore he is not a muslim, and he wasted money islam doesn't allow it" NO ONE will want to follow islam. You guys should promote sharukh khan by saying "he lost his parents very early, and still has the quran and still calls himself a muslim even though the world has a bad image". This way srk will be more proud to call himself a muslim and MIGHT give islam more importance, and will do MORE islamic acts. What I am trying to say is okay fine he might not be the perfect muslim but try to lure him more into islam by encouraging his islamic acts regardless of the fact that they are very small.

Did he write an agreement with anybody that 'I'll give this much to charity a year' or something? On the other hand, how much have YOU spent for charity this week. Ok, that was a bit too harsh. Lets make it a month. A year? What about the last decade?! Would anybody of you not buy a branded item, go for a much cheaper alternative and donate the saved money to charity? Anyone? Same logic. Just that his range is way too high for us to digest!!! I'm not writing this because I'm a die-hard SRK fan or something. Lets be more mature. It makes us accountable to mankind for our acts and accountable to God for all our deeds. Imagine a world without some authority trying to keep mankind in check. Imagine a world without police,judges,teachers,mothers,fathers etc...Religious teachings is the same concept. God's order to a muslim is to avoid show-off and spend more in helping mankind (muslims and non-muslims). The extravagance would have fed so many hungry in this world. Thats why it is bad and irrational behaviour to blow up money.
