"We have tried to include as much of the city as possible in the film which has factual stuff as well as imaginative beliefs. Any picture of Mumbai is imperfect," Danny Boyle said at a press conference in Mumbai.

When asked about criticism from some quarters especially megastar Amitabh Bachchan, about the film highlighting poverty in India, Danny said it was part of his job to accept criticism which helps to learn and grow in the profession.

"Amitabh Bachchan is a man of great stature and he is in fact part of the film where the young protagonist is shown as a die hard fan of the actor. We sought his permission to use his name in the film," Danny said.

To a question on why there is so much hype about the movie, Danny said it was because the world is changing.

"The last century belonged to America. The West found this tale of destiny very cute. Slumdog Millionaire is a universal story where the protagonist comes from nowhere to get to where he wants through sheer hard work," he said.

The Britisher said he would love to make a thriller in Mumbai in near future.

Speaking whether he expected an Oscar nomination after having bagged four Golden Globe awards, Danny said he was not expecting anything.

"Golden Globes were a surprise. I feel incredibly blessed by the success of the film and the most important aspect is the opening of the film in Mumbai this week," he added.

'Slumdog Millionaire' made at a budget of seven million pounds opens in India on January 23 after collecting six million pounds at the UK box office and USD 40 million in the United States.

Actor Anil Kapoor said he did not agree with Bachchan's views that the film depicted poverty. "I respect and admire him but do not agree with him on this matter," he said.

Irrfan Khan, who plays a police inspector in the film, said there is no denying the fact that there is poverty in India and it needs to be dealt with.
