Receiving a box-office boost after reaping a rich harvest in the Golden Globe Awards, 'Slumdog Millionaire' has bounced back into the top ten chart in the US, grossing 5.9 million dollars over the weekend.

British director Danny Boyle's rags-to-riches story of a Mumbai street boy was at the 10th spot in the latest box-office reports, with Kevin James-starrer comedy "Paul Blart: Mall Cop" climbing to the top.

Now playing in limited release in 582 theatres in the US, 'Slumdog' is expected to expand to more than 1,200 theatres next weekend following Thursday's Academy Award nominations. The film which won four Golden Globes, including one for Best Original Score to Indian maestro A R Rahman, has grossed a total of USD 42.7 million in 10 weeks.

"You can see the impact of the Golden Globe winnings and, also, people are just discovering this film so we're able to keep growing our audience," Richard Shamban, vice president of theatrical distribution for Fox Searchlight, was quoted as saying by reporters.

The movie, adapted from the novel "Q&A" by diplomat Vikas Swarup, has also earned accolades from leading US daily 'Washington Times'.

In an editorial, it describes 'Slumdog' as "the kind of movie Hollywood used to make -— a film that transmits eternal verities and has universal appeal."

"America needs more movies like this," it said adding, "the film is a stinging indictment of a Hollywood culture that is bereft of decent values."
