Sania Mirza raised eyebrows when she appeared in public with ‘Well-behaved woman rarely make history’ on her Tee-shirt. B-town may not be so outrageous with their tees slogans but they do wear their sense of humour across their chests. Sample some witty slogans - ‘Attitude unlimited’, ‘I’d rather be looked all over than overlooked’! With the actors sporting classic funny tees in our films (check out Ranbir Kapoor in Wake Up Sid) and Deepika Padukone in Love Aaj Kal with a Mickey Mouse on her tee, the trend is catching up. Imran Khan, Salman Khan, Tusshar Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Shahid Kapoor, Shah Rukh Khan, Suneil Shetty, John Abraham are the leading members of the slogan gang.
B-town babes prefer cartoons over a nifty, naughty line. Katrina Kaif donned the spinach hero Popeye on her tee. “Tees with funny graphics and slogans are the trend today. But our girls prefer to wear something more romantic and soft like cartoon figures. Check out the tees Sonam will wear in I Hate Love Stories. They are feminine and will have some naughty lines on them,” elaborates fashion designer Manish Malhotra, who is styling Sonam’s look in the film.
B-town dudes would rather have their tees making a statement, “I like to wear skin fitting tees with a clever line on. That makes it even better,” says Sunil Shetty. “At one time I could get tees with funny lines only at wayside stalls in Hong Kong for a dollar or so, but now fashion brands like Abercrombie and Fitch also stock those funky slogan tees,” says Tusshar Kapoor who has a huge collection of those. “These clever and funny designs sure look cool and get noticed. Our next lot of menswear, called Rock Prints which we launch in January has a good collection of reds and browns with witty lines,” says santoor player Rahul Sharma’s wife Barkha who specialises in men’s fashion.
