Shruti
Silambarasan, popularly known as Simbu, has reportedly offered the female lead role in his Valiban to Shruti Haasan, the young daughter of Kamal Haasan, who recently made her debut in Bollywood with Luck. Of course the news is yet to be confirmed, but it’s heard that Simbu has made the offer and Shruti hasn’t refused it either. Shruti is also composing music for Unnaipol Oruvan (Ee Naadu in Telugu), which is her father’s film and which is the remake of the Hindi film A Wednesday. Valiban will be directed by Simbu himself.

Vikram to team up with Selvaraghavan
Vikram, whose Kanthasamy hit screens with a big bang recently and continues to elicit mixed response with the critics and a good run at the box office, is reportedly teaming up with hit-maker Selvaraghavan for his next film. Selvaraghavan, who has made real good movies like Kadhal Kondein and 7 G Rainbow Colony, is at present busy with the last-stage work of his latest, Aayirathil Oruvan. It’s heard that the Selvaraghavan-Vikram movie will be shot entirely in Iceland.

Jayasurya in Sohanlal’s next
Young director Sohanlal, who had made some good tele-films and then made a very impressive debut on the silver screen with Orkkuka Vallappozhum, is reportedly getting ready for his next. Sohanlal, who is presently in the U.K. where his Orkkuka Vallappozhum and his much acclaimed tele-film Neermathalathinte Pookkal (based on a story by Kamala Suraiyya) are being screened at a couple of places, casts Jayasurya in his next film, discussions of which are going on. The film will be scripted by Didi Damodaran, who had made a very impressive debut scripting the Jayaraj-directed Gulmohar and who is the daughter of well-known scenarist T. Damodaran.

Prithviraj with Diphan again
Prithivraj and director Diphan, who had teamed up to give Puthiya Mukham, an action thriller that has been getting a good run at the box office, are all set to join hands once again. Puthiya Mukham, which is Diphan’s second film after Leader, is still doing the rounds at the box office and the latest buzz is that Diphan and team are getting ready for their next, the Prithviraj-starrer which would be produced under the Seven Arts banner and which would be scripted by Babu Janardhanan, the man who had scripted many sensible films. The film, which has been tentatively named Singaravelan, is likely to have Priyamani as one of the heroines. More details are awaited as the film is still in its discussion stage and may most likely take off by November.
