Debutante Shweta Kumar isn't worried about comparisons with the old 'Karzzz'"Comparisons are inevitable in anything you do and not only if you are working on a remake of a highly popular film of the 1980s," Shweta, daughter of filmmaker Indra Kumar, said.
Director Satish Kaushik, producer Bhushan Kumar and actor-composer Himesh Reshamiya wanted a fresh face to play Tina Munim's role from the original 'Karz'.
"Satishji who is a friend of my father knew that he was planning to launch me in movies. He approached my dad with this offer. We decided to go ahead because the movie was good with a strong script, good banner and a director whom my father trusted," she added.
She said comparisons are bound to be there in anything one does especially in the film industry. "If I get scared of comparisons and become apprehensive, I should not be in the industry," she added.
Shweta said she believed in doing hard work and giving her hundred percent to prove herself. "Rest is destiny," she said.
Shweta said her second film will be directed and produced by her father which will go on floors soon. "He was going to launch me with this film, but now it will be my second. It's too early to discuss it," she added.
She agreed that coming from a film family, helps to gain foothold in the industry.
"It is much easier for those who have relatives in the industry to get good banners and roles in their initial films.
But, they can't make a mark for themselves. It is the performances which will speak and outside producers will cast you on the basis of your work and not relationships," Shweta said.
She said she always wanted to be an actress and prepared herself by taking up a crash course in acting and dance.
Shweta, a commerce graduate, said she never intended to take up higher studies.
She said 'Karzzz' was shot in Johanesburg, Capetown and Mumbai.
Shweta admitted that she was nervous and scared on the first day of the shoot. "But Satishji was supportive and once the camera rolled, my inhibitions had vanished," she added.
