ShilpaRaj Kundra arrived in a horse-drawn chariot to marry actress Shilpa Shetty in Khandala.
Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty is now a married woman.

In one of the most awaited weddings of tinseltown, the actress tied the knot with London-based businessman Raj Kundra in a lavish ceremony in Khandala.

The 34-year-old actress wed in a traditional Mangalorean ceremony at businesswoman Kiran Bawa's villa in Khandala, 100 kms from here, in the presence of close friends and family.

The actress who shot to international fame with her stint in UK reality show 'Celebrity Big Brother' did not invite many of her Bollywood associates with only Sunny Deol, Suneil Shetty, Jackky Bhagnani and Vasu Bhagnani attending the private ceremony which was out of bounds for the media.

The bride wore a burgundy and red saree, embellished with Swarovsky crystals, designed by Tarun Tahiliani while 33-year-old Kundra, who arrived at the wedding venue in a horse-drawn chariot, was dressed in a maroon and gold sherwani designed by Shantanu and Nikhil.

The marriage combined the rituals of the Mangalorean bride and the Punjabi groom with the vows being exchanged according to South Indian tradition while pre-wedding rituals like 'Mehendi' and 'Sangeet' conducted as per Punjabi tradition.

The groom was welcomed by Shilpa's parents and her sister Shamita Shetty, who recently left the 'Bigg Boss' house to attend the wedding.

It is Shetty's first wedding while Kundra was previously married and has a young daughter.

Question on integrity by Ramesh Duggal on 2009-11-23 12:15:01.251375+05:30 NDTV is a national newschannel and I respect it as one of the most genuine and free media. However, what shcked me yesterday was that its homepage yeterday carried Shilpa's wedding coverage. I have just one question o ask: was Shilpa's marriage a national event and was it essential to post it as your main news. Was it something compared to 26/11 that you guys were reporting every second of what was happening and how a glimpse could be taken or who were the guests at the wedding... Dear Sir, I seriously question the integrity of your channel using this point... Sir please learn from Indian Express and The Hindu...we see NDTV as Prannoy Roy and Vinod Dua, who are among the most genuine media persons I consider and would never wish to see that they are advocating or promoting Shilpa' marriage as national news.

Wedding Styles by Cheeki on 2009-11-22 22:20:21.885468+05:30 Reporter Don't generalize on South Indian. Each state (yes we have 4 in case you were not aware) has different customs and traditions. In Karnataka itself, each community(Bunts, Konkana's Coorgis, Lingayats, Gowdas, Brahmins) have different types of wedding. If you had enough General Knowledge (its obvious that you don't and seem like a typical cow belt retard )you would have said Bunt style wedding. In fact the Bunt wedding is very shot one compared to other community weddings

enjoy by joel on 2009-11-22 20:55:07.612299+05:30 yohan dont tell others how to celebrate becos u are incapable. Wealth is meant to be spread and enjoyed. Shilpa and Raj did just that. Think how many people earned due to their spending. Hundreds of labourers got a day's wage. It may seem vulgar to a man of limited means but spending helps the economy. Not only investment. So yohan u go on with your pathetic life and stop pontificating.

extravaganza by yohan on 2009-11-22 18:58:33.664346+05:30 this extravaganze could have been avoided. marriage after all depends on the mutual understanding of two individuals, irrespective of whether they marry in heaven or earth. at a time of austerity, these couple should have shown a lead by donating 50% of this extravaganza to rehabilitate 50 people by giving them shelter and managed with the rest of the money in a simple ceremony. later they can go to london and stay in castle.

1 Its ok to be rich
by Charanjit Singh on 2009-11-23 01:45:44.777533+05:30This is not the Soviet Union. Its okay to be rich and spend as long as you earned it honestly. I dont see anything wrong here. Its the politions who cannot explain there wealth and spend crores on their childrens wedding who should be questioned.
