He may have acted as an outlaw umpteen times on the screen but the terror attacks in Mumbai were enough to shake Amitabh Bachchan up who kept his revolver under his pillow while going to sleep.

"Last night, as the events of the terror attack unfolded in front of me I did something for the first time and one that I had hoped never ever to be in a situation to do.

Before retiring for the night, I pulled out my licensed .32 revolver, loaded it and put it under my pillow. For a very disturbed sleep," the megastar wrote on his blog.

Bachchan was glued to TV screen as security personnel battled the militants yesterday, also the birth anniversary of his father.

Bachchan, known for his on-screen 'Angry Young Man' image depicting the rebellious youth, fumed with anger at the "ineptitude of the authorities" who were supposed to take care of the country.

"My pain has been the sight and plight of my innocent and vulnerable and completely insecure countrymen, facing the wrath of this terror attack. And my anger has been at the ineptitude of the authorities that have been ordained to look after us," Big B expressed in his blog.

Lauding the efforts of troops in tackling the terrors ituation, he wrote "brilliant officers and police personnel

have laid down their lives for us. I can only but salute them and respect their sincerity in the call of duty." Bachchan was disgruntled over the cliche "spirit of Mumbai" which he said people were using to cover the traumatic experiences that the merry city underwent in recent years.

"Yes Mumbai is strong and resilient and shall not be cowed down by any such occurrence. But let us not conveniently use it as our cover sheet, pull it over our heads and go off to sleep," he said.

Despite repeated requests by electronic channels to issue a statement on the tragedy, Bachchan refused to do so.

An irked Bachchan wrote in bold, "Tell me and order me instead that we require every Indian to get up and walk into the facilities where the action is on and I will be the first to walk.

"But, please do not ask me to come and make sloppy statements that will do nothing more than create viewer interest."

Government's inaction by RD on 2008-12-02 00:02:27.157509+05:30 Let's not take out our anger/frustration on Amitabh B. I understand-desh ke liya, saab ka dil jaal raha hai! Let's be practical. It's the govt. to act and do whatever is needed to be done to stop/preempt such terrorist attacks which are taking place regularly in our country. The politicians are more interested in protecting themselves thru NSG. When are we going to train the police to look after the common man? Terrorism has taken a new form and is the police ready to deal with it? What concrete steps has the Govt. taken since the last terror attack to secure it's citizens? Administrative and police reforms are desparately needed in our country, sooner than later. Unfortunately our politicians go by slogans and instead of blaming anyone else for this tradegy they should come out with a blue print to tackle this menace facing our country. Few resignations to douse the public anger will not do. We need to put our heads together to initiate concrete action and take India forward.

Why a gun he can sleep with a bofors gun by Mandy on 2008-11-29 15:18:32.911632+05:30 He is blaming the politician what did he do when he was one.He was one of the few people who had a chance to do something for this country as a politician and maybe can still do. But when he was at that position he addressed nothing more than what today's politicians are doing or his achievements were even less compared to some of today's celebrity politician. Why a gun you he can keep a bofors for his safety and security. He shut his mouth and not carry on the blame game like others if he can do something then open your mouth else please take your gun and sleep well and let the common join hands and see what they can do.

The real face of Amitabh by Sandeep Deshpande on 2008-11-29 09:01:35.595495+05:30 The Super-Hero on screen is more coward person. Amitabh should learn being brave from any common Mumbaikar. In spite of attacks and warning most of the mumbaikars went to their offices on Friday. The trains were crowded. Sallam Mumbai.

Coward act by rahul on 2008-11-29 01:14:18.604015+05:30 It is too cawrd or media made story. Should we spent time on rubbish things of billionnares like bachcha aide of Amar Singh/ Mulayam OR war heroes who sacrifice their life for the nation. It would have been better if the energy of journalists/ reporters is diverted towrds coverage/ condolences of war.

Media please Cover stories on martyrs and their families rather than on film artists or cricket by ravi on 2008-11-29 01:07:10.986009+05:30 Why media is putting so much weightage to these film stars at this time. It is time to remember martyrs , to be with their families. I would appreciate if Media cover more stories over the families of national heroes who gave ultimate sacrifice to the nation. It is my request to media and entertainment channels to be little sensible to nation and observe mourning for at least one week and publish things which are crucial and necesary for nation building. We need to educate our children. If you publish news like attract first to the teenagers.

1 Balasaheb is made by a forced situation
by Surekha on 2009-01-23 00:28:07.566529+05:30You can not crowd a decent society to make it full of badboo without any care for their culture and expect someone will not resist against it. BT and SS had to take it on their shoulders to stand up against all the filth being poured in Maharashtra from all sides. All other things you mention are part of what will normally follow. Get it? Your one sentence stand shows how weak you are in mind because of sheer hatred only and nothing else. Others' poverty was not our made. But we are made to pay the price.

kavithapant@aim.com by Shut up Mr. Bachchan on 2008-11-28 14:36:41.194661+05:30 I ask Mr. Bachchan not to interefere in internal matter of our country. People like big B are causing more harm than politicians. This man has never done for his community. And raj thakerey desrvedly snubbed him. Similarly Salman khan has affair with his daughter in law. What else to write about him?
