Shah Rukh Khan might be acting in Fauji 2, which is being readied to be aired on Colors. Pulkit Samrat, who was popular as Lakshya in Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, has been pencilled in to play the lead role. Apparently, SRK was personally present for his audition. Pulkit was asked to get his hair cut really short and lose weight to get the lean fauji look. When contacted, Pulkit said that he had just one meeting with the producers Red Chillies Idiot Box. “It’s at a very nascent stage and I can’t say anything now.” The lure for Pulkit to do the serial was that SRK will act in the show. The superstar who made his TV debut with Fauji two decades ago will revisit it by playing Pulkit’s father. The buzz is he will appear in flashbacks guiding and advising Pulkit.

Extension for Tere Mere Beach Mein
Even as Farah Khan’s Tere Mere Beach Mein draws to a close this week with the Shah Rukh Khan episode, news is that the show has got an extension of 8-10 episodes. The show, which was to be aired for 14 episodes, has got an extension, but the next lot will be aired in November after Diwali. Meanwhile, the final episode with SRK has Joru Ka Ghulam as its theme. SRK reveals that he’s taking the family tradition ahead by being one just like his father and Gauri’s father. While admitting to the title with pride, he also reveals interesting anecdotes of his relationship with Gauri along with his mother-in- law and brother-in-law. In the Main Hoon Na section SRK teaches the husband how to dance with his wife on the song Aankhon mein teri ajab si. The episode will be aired on October 4 at 9 pm.

Nostalgia magic
The 10 Ka Dum episode to be aired this Saturday at 9 pm, has khamosh Shatrughan Sinha and Dream Girl Hema Malini. The duo indulged in a lot of banter, laughter jokes, a rapid-fire round, dialogue delivery and even an antakshari. Hema Malini, looking beautiful as usual, delighted the audience with her Basanti dialogue that she said she had to recite at each meeting during the election campaigns, while Shatrughan proved that his quick wit and elephantine memory has not dimmed with time. He raced through a long tongue-twister of a dialogue from a film he had done 30 years ago! Looking dapper in black with a red scarf, he said it was not the Nehru look he was sporting but the Jinnah one! Jinnah, as we know, is in the news these days.

Ashwini Dheer, Kundan Shah team-up for Lapataganj
A new serial Lapataganj based on the works of Sharad Joshi, who specialised in satire is being readied for SAB TV. Produced and written by Ashwini Dheer, who had penned the popular Office Office, the show is set in an imaginary small town called “Lapataganj” ( a lost place). It is a small town in some state of the country which has been long forgotten by the system. The town struggles daily for basic facilities, yet the people residing here are the happiest of the lot. The show captures the spirit of a common man to lead a happy life against all odds. It is being directed by Kundan Shah, known for his classic film Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa and Kya Kehna. The team of directors also includes Manjul Sinha, the noted director comedy show Yeh Jo Hai Jindagi. A huge set costing approximately 1.5 crore has been erected in Madh Island to capture the essence of a small town. From stories about drinking water availability to road construction, from tales of corrupt netas to sleeping government officials, from accounts of love-letters to education, every story would be a hilarious journey of the residents of Lapataganj to find a way to their dreams. Sound interestingly like Malgudi Days.

Romit Raj replaces Vishal Malhotra
The show is hunting for a Perfect Bride but before they get her, the show itself is undergoing changes. First, Megha Gupta, who was co-hosting the show with Vishal Malhotra, was ousted and later Vishal was also replaced with Romit Raj. Apparently, the channel was unhappy with the way the two were conducting it. When contacted, Vishal said, “I am also hosting Entertainment Ke Liye Aur Bhi Kuch Karega aired on a rival channel Sony. There were some problems with dates, which I had explained before signing the show, I even sorted that out except for one or two dates, which weren’t matching.” As for Romit Raj, he’s fast becoming a replacement artiste, but it’s not an issue with Rohit. “In my previous two shows Maayaka and Betiya also I had replaced actors. At the end of the day I am an actor and whatever opportunity comes I take it if I like it. For the first time I am anchoring and I want to enjoy it thoroughly.”

Nostalgie pur by What on 2009-09-30 18:39:21.051819+05:30 SRK wants to go back at the time he began his career. It shows how sentimental and a sensible person he is. I hope Fauji 2 will be a success more than the 1st. one. Best wishes Shahrukh.
