The Supreme Court came down heavily on Bollywood director Ram Gopal Verma's distortion of the national anthem in his forthcoming film ‘Rann’ saying it gives a ‘totally negative sense’.

We have read it. It gives a totally negative sense.

It seems every line of national anthem has been proved wrong.

Nobody has got a right to tinker with the national anthem," a vacation bench of Justices V S Sirpurkar and R M Lodha said.

The bench made the observation while declining to quash the order passed by the Censor Board on May 8 directing Verma to delete certain "objectionable" references made to the national anthem in the movie.

Senior counsel Arun Jaitley's argument on behalf of the director that even parties like Congress-I, NCP and Trinamool Congress use the national tricolour with their respective party symbols failed to convince the bench which asked the petitioner to approach the appellate tribunal of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) on the certification issue.

The film stars superstar Amitabh Bachchan among others.

Why RGV has this controversy when there are a lot of options are there? by Mohanavel on 2009-05-26 10:11:03.498424+05:30 When there are lot of problems to discuss, show and resolve, why our film makers and creators are involving in such activities? Always seeking popularity, in almost every chance... May be our audience taste has changed to such violence, which RGV and others are eyeing on it. Basic rights and freedom doesn't mean that we can talk / express anything. We should be responsible, when you are showcasing to/the public.Vandhe Maatharam!!!

Tinkering with the National Anthem by vijoy on 2009-05-26 05:09:01.767618+05:30 Respect for the country's flag, its anthem is a matter of pride for any patriotic citizen. It requires a lot of self discipline to show respect in letter and spirit. And to show such disrespect in a movie reflects the character of the producer/director for whom cheap commercial activity would have earned them some more money by titilating the thought of the audience.Even if you have no trust in the country's system you are not permitted to show disrespect to the anthem(it is not just another song)

national anthem by Dr. TA Singh on 2009-05-26 00:07:13.371801+05:30 This guy RGV works for the underworld and is financed by them. He is sold out completely. He is being used by his bosses in the neighboring country and the middle east. His job is to promote their interests, religion and corruption. His films are remakes of old movies so only certain actors are promoted, stories of his bosses to create panic amog the viewers and promote their religion and culture in INDIA. No wonder he is distrorting our national anthem. That is his job. he is paid for it or else he will be taken care of. Remember all the movies, the Company, etc. Remmber also that he was present in the Mumbai hotel immmediately after the terrorist strike! He has the support of our politicians too!! Beware!!
