Sania unhappy with Mahesh for not taking her to watch 'Slumdog'

Sania mirzaInstead of taking her along, Bhupathi and Bopanna went to see the movie.
Sania Mirza is all praise for Mahesh Bhupathi after they won the Australian Open mixed doubles title but the tennis ace is also upset with him for not taking her to watch 'Slumdog Millionaire'.

Sania wanted to watch the much-acclaimed film, directed by Danny Boyle, but instead of taking her along, Bhupathi and Rohan Bopanna went ahead and saw the movie.

"Mahesh and Rohan ditched me and went to watch 'Slumdog Millionaire'," Sania said today.

Talking about the reception following her triumph in the Australian Open where she and Bhupathi became the first Indian pair to win a Grand Slam title, the Hyderabadi girl said it reminded her of the time when she returned home after winning the junior Wimbledon doubles title partnering Alisa Kleybanova of Russia in 2003.

"There were my relative and a number of people to receive me at the airport when I returned home from the Australian Open. It reminded me when I was 17 and had won the junior Wimbledon title," she said.

Asked what went through her mind when they landed the Australian Open mixed doubles title, Sania said, "Is this for real? There were so many things going through my mind, there was almost disbelief in the beginning. It is taking time but finally it is sinking in."

You are my heroin, Sania by Atal Bahadur on 2009-02-05 12:07:00.692603+05:30 Sania, whether someone takes you to a movie or not, you are my heroin, because you continue to dress skimpily, thus spitting on the face of the fundamentalists.

Apply your mind better, Sania by Alka Mehra on 2009-02-05 12:01:35.764476+05:30 We all know that you are not particularly bright, Sania, but do you have to be so dumb as to say things like this?

Sania's Future Success! by M.V.Muthu on 2009-02-04 14:38:11.352044+05:30 On revisiting all the comments posted on this coloumn, its clear that there are more brickbats than boquets!. And why not?. Mahersh has won so many Mixed Doubles Grand Slam Champiuonships and all with different partners. There is no reason why there should be an exception when it comes to Sania Mirza. As many point out, Sania Mirza has been unduely over-hyped. She was awarded Padma Shree, even when she had achieved nothing significant and, at that rate, she would have to be conferrered Bharat Ratna if she wins a Grand Slam Singles. Infact, she reminds us by remniscing that she was awarded Padma Shree when shw won Junior Women's Doubles in Wimbledon back in 2003 and obliquely hinting that she is eligible for atleast Padma Bhushan now that she has pocketed a Mixed Doubles in Senior DS slot! Compare with all this humbug, the treatment metted out that poor Saina in Badminton who has peaked to top 10 ranking. No Money, No Recognition, No Accolades and No Media Attention.Pity.

Sania by Sasikumar on 2009-02-04 12:44:42.687261+05:30 congrats to mahesh, paes, sania and yuki for the fantastic result. the just concluded austalian open has the indians' names written all over thanks to the good job by the four even though paes and his partner failed to make to the finals. Come on readers, can't you guys grow up. how cheap can someone get to suggest that something is going on between the two. this reflects on the writers attitude and narrow mind set. Sania has gone down the ranking because she could not play due to injuries. Yes, now she is back to the court, she needs to work on her consistency. As suggested by one of the writers, she will shine in double events, if she could find a good partner.

Mahesh a mixdoublepathi by Jayant Ratanjankar on 2009-02-04 09:58:22.16484+05:30 It is no doubt a great achievment. However, credit goes to Mahesh for giving good cover to Sania a number of times when she had fumbled. Hats off to Mahesh for a terrific show through out the mixed double matches.

Don't praise her by Ravi on 2009-02-04 09:43:00.936346+05:30 Why she could not win one ATP singles tournament? She was going down the ranks? We are praising her wrongly. She was off the media headlines for some time. We are praising her too much. She has not proved her worth. She is a model for ads. That is it about her. In India, even if somebody does something even 10%, we praise him/her a lot.

Sania is going downhill by Ananth on 2009-02-04 07:47:20.82841+05:30 Sania Mirza is basking in the reflected glory of Mahesh Bhupati.Otherwise, she's just a 'second round' loser. No wonder, her ranking has tanked below 120.She's finished! Only a pliant media extols her at the cost of many other more deserving and young tennis players.Yuki is one example!

Sania's Future Success! by M.V.Muthu on 2009-02-04 07:41:03.012696+05:30 If Sania focuses only on Doubles, both Women's and Mixed, she will excell, given her power and style of play. In Doubles, the courts are wider and bouquets and brickbats can be shared. Only thing is she has to find good, lasting partners for years to come. As for Singles, she has been adequately tested and it will be an achievement even if she is last 16 in any of the Slams, which seems highly improbable.
