The Priyolkars want their younger daughter Pritam to settle down in matrimony as their elder daughter Prajakta has decided to remain single out of health reasons. But young Pritam, who is still studying in college, is confused about her choice of a life partner. Prajakta suggests checking some sites on the Internet that cater to marriages. Of the many sites on matrimony, they surf Saavariyaa.com and chance upon Pankaj, a computer engineer. What catches their eye is that he belongs to their caste and is working with a prestigious firm in UK. His parents are settled in Goa. On the insistence of her parents, Pritam and Pankaj begin to chat on the ’Net. Gradually as things are on the verge of getting finalised, Pritam does not seem to like his way of living. Meantime at the university she meets Jayesh. His simple ways and his interest in music bring them closer though they never profess love for each other. The date for Pritam and Pankaj’s wedding is fixed by both families. Now Pritam is in a dilemma as her heart is with Jayesh and not with Pankaj, who she knows only through the computer. On the wedding day, just as the bridal couple are to exhange the garlands, Pritam backs out and tells everyone that Jayesh is her soulmate.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
Saavariyaa.com is a bilingual, made in Marathi and Konkani. Coming from the maker of Savalee that won several awards, expectations from Saavariyaa.com are obviously high. But the film falls short at various places. Firstly since the film is based on the present times and the computer age and secondly since it is set in the picturesque locales of Goa, the look of the film should have been slick and should have brought out the advantages of such sites. But sadly it is not so. Subodh Bhave, as Pankaj, looks very world-weary and is mostly shown working in his office. London is not exploited much. Aniket Vishwasrao and Priyanka Bidaye as Jayesh and Pritam pass muster. It is Devika Daftardar who manages to hold fort with her brilliant acting as an ailing girl who has her sister’s best interest at heart. The screenplay by Sanjay Mone is admirable. The two stars are for the good concept and Devika’s acting.
