Ravi Kishan may become the latest star to join the political bandwagon with the Bhojpuri actor claiming that BSP has offered him a ticket for the coming Lok Sabha elections from Uttar Pradesh.

"The BSP leaders have approached me and requested me to contest the elections on a party ticket," Ravikishan told reporters from Jhansi where he is shooting for Mani Ratnam's "Ravana".

He said the BSP has asked him to contest either from Varanasi or Jaunpur.

Jaunpur also happens to be the Kishan's home turf as the regional super star hails from Kirkat village of the constituency.

Interestingly, Mulayam Singh Yadav has already made offered another Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari an SP ticket from Gorakhpur constituency.

According to sources, political parties are trying to rope in Bhojpuri actors as a large number of voters in eastern Uttar Pradesh speak the language.

The region has become politically potent after Raj Thakeray's tirade against north Indians, especially Bhojpuris, in Mumbai.

Besides, by fielding Kishan, a Brahmin, the BSP is also targeting voters of the caste who are dominant in the constituency, the sources said.

Ravi Kishan also claimed to have got a similar offer from BJP to counter Tiwari in Gorakhpur, a traditional strong hold of the saffron party with Yogi Adityanath occupying the seat for past two terms.
