The Nehru Memorial Museum and Library, Children’s Centre and Multi Media Library in their continued efforts to reach out to children have organised a month long summer school in June 2009 for learning about Pt. Nehru’s Discovery of India - the myriad histories of this civilisation and its cultural diversity and appreciate the local histories and culture through a range of folk lore and stories.
To celebrate 15 days of the Summer School, NMML and Children’s Centre organised the midway point presentation where the children presented and performed the skills at Art, Music, Theatre and Painting that they have learned in these 15 days. Apart from the children’s presentation the programme had some very special music by renowned Sufi Singer Dr. Madan Gopal Singh and lead vocalist of Indian Ocean and Gulal fame Rahul Ram, who not only applauded the efforts of children but also performed.

Pt. Ulhas Bapat’s concert
Santoorchya Bhaavvishwaat is a musical album comprising of instrumental versions of some of the most popular Marathi songs. The songs have been played by renowned santoor artiste Pt. Ulhas Bapat. Ulhas Bapat is one of the leading exponents of santoor today. The songs belong to the Bhaavgeet category of Marathi music, which is a favourite of Marathi audiences. These songs were originally composed by famous music directors such as Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Shrinivas Khale, Prabhakar Jog and Ashok Patki and sung by legendary artistes such as Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Sudhir Phadke and Suman Kalyanpur. A concert of the same was organised recently in Mumbai.
