Kapoor portrays Sidharth Mehra, who is caught in a dilemma as he prepares for his final year exams.Saawariya and Bachna Ae Hasino met with a lukewarm response and Kapoor has left no stone unturned to make his third outing more memorable. “I confronted my biggest phobia, water, when I was asked to jump into a pool for a promotional music video. I did it, though the water was neck deep,” he says.
Kapoor portrays Sidharth Mehra, who is caught in a dilemma as he prepares for his final year exams. “The most important things in his life are his friends, his car and his video game. I also faced the same confusion about my career, though I cannot be like Sid in real life,” says Kapoor. Life takes on some perspective when Sid meets an aspiring writer called Ayesha, played by Konkana Sen Sharma. The two hit it off instantly despite their contradicting personalities and the age difference.
“We are not trying to make any statement by depicting the chemistry between a younger boy and an older woman. The relationship organically fell into place in the script,” explains Mukherji, who earlier assisted Karan Johar in Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Ashutosh Gowarikar in Swades. Sen Sharma attempts to break away from her image as an intellectual actress with this film. “People have a misconception that I am a serious person off screen. In fact, I found it easy to portray Ayesha’s role as she is a regular girl next door,” she adds. The film releases on October 2.
