Rajiv Gandhi Award for Shahid Kapoor
The 12th Rajiv Gandhi Awards in the Actor Category will be conferred on Shahid Kapoor. This award is given every year to a person who shows eminence in his chosen field. “I was pleasantly surprised to get the news about my being chosen for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi award. I’m only 28 years old and it’s really early in my career. I feel humbled and honoured to be chosen by the jury,” said Shahid.

The award function will be held in the second week of August, when Shahid’s first double-role feature Kaminey is slated to be released.

Kangna, Madhavan in Tanu Weds Manu
Tanu Weds Manu has finally found its female lead. Kangna Ranaut has been roped in to play Manu in Aanand L Rai’s forthcoming film being produced under his banner Colour Yellow Pictures. It is a love story with lots of celebration. While R.Madhavan was signed some time back, the hunt for the female lead just ended. The movie will go on floors in the third week of September and the start-to-finish marathon shoot will be shot extensively in north India. The shooting will also take place mostly at real locations.

“Kangna loved the storyline and character when she heard about it. I believe this will be something new and fresh for her and the audiences as we have never seen her play a romantic comedy. The couple will introduce a completely new flavour in the industry as well,” said the director.

Subhash Ghai recommends Film City for Jaipur
THERE are good possibilities ahead of setting up a Film City in Jaipur soon, as noted filmmaker Subhash Ghai during his recent meeting with Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, strongly recommended it. Ghai has planned setting up a branch of Whistling Woods International there. Now, if the government provides the needed infrastructure, the dream may be realised soon.

It may be recalled that for the first time, a high-level delegation under the leadership of Bina Kak, the then minister of Art,Culture and Tourism, had visited Mumbai in this connection to meet the bigwigs of Bollywood.

Ghai added, “With co-operation from the Government of Maharashtra, I am running Whistling Woods International Film Institute since 2006.With co-operation from the Rajasthan Government, I am keen to set up a branch in Jaipur too.”
