A life size wax statue of Oscar award winning sound engineer Resul Pookutty has been crafted by a man in Kerala, who plans to start a museum in Mumbai where he will place it, along with 35 such statues of important personalities.
Also nearing completion is a statue of another Oscar winner, music maestro A R Rehman.
Both Resul Pookutty and A R Rehman won Oscars for their work in Slumdog Millionaire.
Sunil said Resul’s wax statue would be placed in the “Celebrity International wax Museum’ he planned to establish in Mumbai in December this year.
He said the decision to start the museum came after the agreement with Bay Watch wax Museum at Kanyakumari, where most of the statues were kept ended recently.
Sunil, hailing from Kayamkulam in Alappuzha district, had created over 35 wax statues of personalities like Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Jawaharlal Nehru, Indira Gandhi, former Kerala Chief Minister K Karunakaran, Hindi film superstar Shah Rukh Khan, cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Sreesanth. He was speaking to reporters in Kochi after superstar Mohanlal unveiled a wax statute of popular comedian Innocent.

Vartul to be screened at Osian’s-Cinefan film festival
Marathi short film Vartul (Circle) has been selected for the 11th Osians-Cinefan Film Festival being held in New Delhi during October 24-30.
“The film will be presented in the ‘In dialogue’ section,” filmmaker Santosh Ram said.
