Paltrow said that she was actually amazed by the ‘ColdPlay’ singer's unwavering loyalty when he stood by her side through one of the most difficult times of her life, the period after her father's death.
The actress said she was devastated after her filmmaker father Bruce Paltrow passed away in 2002 from complications linked to throat cancer but her spouse remained by her side and even dedicated songs from his band's 2005 album "X&Y" to her.
She told Britain's 'Elle' magazine, "It's so hard for me to listen to some of those songs. I can't listen to 'Swallowed In The Sea' without crying. I'm amazed he stuck with me, because I was a wreck. I can't believe that he did."
The "Shakespeare In Love" star said that she has no plans to make her marriage a public spectacle and therefore prefers not to be seen in public with Martin even if it means causing speculation about problems in their relationship.
"It doesn't behove us to be a public couple. So it's just better if we don't. We will never walk down a red carpet together and if people think it means we're not together - ha, ha, ha - so be it!" said Paltrow.
