Rambha
This sexy miss from the South played the temptress in Quick Gun Murugun, but Rambha wants to be known as more than just an oomph girl

Did the response to Quick Gun Murugun meet your expectations?
I never have any expectations from my films, but yes, I am happy that everyone who has seen the film loved my character Mango Dolly.

Did you not mind being known as Mango Dolly, which is like the name of an ice-cream?
It sounds so cute, and I love it because children will associate with it.

What were your instructions about the character?
Director Shashanka Ghosh handed me a Barbie doll and said that I should look like her… an innocent face on a voluptuous body.

What prompted you to take up the film?
The fact that Shashanka said I was the first one that came to his mind, since I was the right mix of vulnerability and voluptuousness and also because I would reach out to a maximum number of people as I had done films in different languages.

What was the most difficult part of playing Mango Dolly?
Getting the right wig! My room was full of wigs (almost 25) for four days, but still Shashanka was not happy and we lost about six days of shooting. That’s when this person from Los Angeles was called and he designed the wig I wear in the film.

Why did we not see you in Hindi films for almost five years?
I had been getting a lot of offers, but all the roles were bordering on the vulgar, or they were for sexy “item” numbers and I did not want to be part of either.

Will we see you in more Hindi films?
Hopefully yes! Rikku (Rakeshnath)ji and I am going through a couple of scripts.

What kind of roles are you looking at now?
God has given me another chance to connect with my Hindi fans. I want to shed this glamourous image and do roles with substance.

How was it working with a veteran like Dr Rajendra Prasad?
I have worked with him in a few South Indian films before. He is the same–very funny in person.

Which films are you working on now?
You can say three films because even though the script is the same, the film is being made in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. It is being produced by my brother.
