Regardless of the fate of ‘Chandni Chowk To China’, there is no denying the fact that Akshay Kumar stays on to be a crowd puller. Even though his film is a certain flop, one can't discount the decent opening that the film took at the box office. The collections were good at least for the opening weekend and if not for a huge print count at which the film arrived, ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ may have showed better numbers in percentage occupancy as well.

So why are we bringing back ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ when the matter is dead and buried. Well, Akshay's next biggie ‘Kambakht Ishq’ is around the corner and the release plan has proved once again that Akshay magic stays on. Reason? Even though this Sajid Nadiadwala production releases on 29th May, no other film, whether mainstream of offbeat, has confirmed its plans before the release date.

Typically, films begin making their plans a few months in advance so as to get the best chain of theaters and show timings with enough breathing space for promoting their films. However, as of now, the only other film which is confirmed for a May release is Abbas-Mustan produced ‘Life Partner’ and that too is arriving on 1st May. Yash Raj Films' ‘New York’ too is sighting a May release but there is no word yet on the exact date.

Says Akshay's friend, producer and director Vipul Shah who has worked with Akshay Kumar on ‘Aankhen’, ‘Waqt’, ‘Namastey London’ and ‘Singh Is Kinng’, "Akshay Kumar is a thorough entertainer and an odd ‘Chandni Chowk To China’ failing at the box office hardly makes a difference to his career. His subsequent film like ‘Kambakht Ishq’ has blockbuster written over it and he would be rocking with the audience once again."

This seems to be quite likely considering ‘Kambatkht Ishq’ is one of the biggest films that Akshay Kumar has been a part of. Though this is director Sabir Khan's debut effort, there are people like Kareena Kapoor and Sajid Nadiadwala who have entrusted their trust in him.

Moreover, the film's music by Anu Malik has been carrying good reports too. It is said to be a grand comeback for the composer who has been looking at bouncing back in the big arena after failing to make a mark with his recent compositions in ‘Victory’ and ‘Love Story 2050’.

What makes the film indeed hot in the distribution circles is its Hollywood connection. Actors such as Sylvester Stallone and Denise Richards have already shot for their parts in the film and there are also talks about Arnold Schwarzenegger, Brandon Routh and Carmen Electra being roped in as well.

Says a source attached to the film, "No one would dream of writing off Akshay Kumar. The film may have failed but Akshay hasn't. He is quiet because he wants to continue concentrating on his projects. ‘Kambakth Ishq’ is a big film in all aspects and has been lavishly made. The makers know that they have a winner in hand and want to start making noise when an appropriate time comes."

Meanwhile, other makers are continuing to be wary about Akshay Kumar and his star power. They are not taking any chances and refusing to bite the bait even as the entire month of May is wide open for them to announce their release.

Also starring Aftab Shivdasani, Amrita Arora and Vindu Dara Singh in principal roles, ‘Kambakht Ishq’ is a romantic comedy about an Indian stuntman who takes Hollywood by storm but cannot find true love.
