‘New York’ is not an America bashing movie: John

John abrahamJohn says ‘New York’ is a honest and objective film.
Actor John Abraham says that his upcoming film ‘New York’ is an honest and objective film on how the world and especially America looks at a certain community post 9/11.

"It also dwells on how the community looks at the world and America as well. But it is not a jingoistic America bashing film. It shows both sides of the coin," John said in an interview.

Fresh from last year's success of Karan Johar's ‘Dostana,’ directed by Tarun Mansukhani, John said he is ready to venture into a different genre with ‘New York’.

John said the reactions to his ‘Dostana’ look have been overwhelming and amusing. "I am happy that people are looking at my body and appreciating the look," the actor said.

"It is a thriller and probably the best role I have done so far. I think it has been a tailor made role for me and I am proud of being a part of ‘New York.’ I was born to do this role. It is a very realistic film," the debonair model turned actor said.

Speaking about his role, John said he plays Sameer or Sam whose life revolves around his two friends Umar (Neil Nitin Mukesh) and Katrina Kaif (Maya). A sequence of events leading to 9/11 happen and the life of all three friends undergoes a change. "All three are Indian students who have met on the campus of an American university," he said.

This is John's second film with director Kabir Khan after ‘Kabul Express’.

"Kabir's style of story telling is real, honest and linear. It the same as ‘Kabul Express’. But ‘Kabul Express’ was a guerrilla film while ‘New York’ is a very commercial Yash Raj movie," he said.

The actor said he had no apprehensions about ‘New York’ as it has turned out to be a very good product.

"I have seen the final print of the film last week and I am very confident.

But, I leave it to the audiences to take the decision. They have to like it. But, I am very proud to be associated with the film," he said.

John said Katrina and Neil have been great co-stars. "We had a 100-day schedule in Philadelphia and the process of shooting the film was creatively satisfying," he said.

John said he had no idea why Nagesh Kuknoor's "Ashayein" has still not seen the light of the day, "It does not seem to be releasing. I think some editing is left," he said.

But, he was looking forward to ‘Hook Ya Crook’ directed by David Dhawan which is a laugh riot.

He gets to share screen space with friend cricketer M S Dhoni. But, John refused to divulge any details of the length of Dhoni's role in the film.

very intersting to see.. genre of films... justifying terror.. cropping up1 by Chandra SG on 2009-06-19 15:06:12.941735+05:30 Although on face of it.. they might distance... All these films and film-makers seem to have hidden agenda... to justify the acts of terror..!The recent FIRAAQ is such a hopeless flick... that actually.. can be used as a good tool my jehadis to recruit fresh talent... in the un-developed/ under-developed pockets... of India.. Which are breeding ground for terror..!!If this is the reasonig these films are coming forwrd with then...1) Sikhs should be out on the roads killing everyone for the operation blue-star massacre (5000 people died).. and anti -sikh pogrom (3300 people) carried out by a political party...2) Hindus should be all out for the blood of all the Muslims.. in Hyderabad...for the 1990 Hyderanad pogrom/ massacare where 300 hindus were massacred just because a muslim gangster was killed in firing by police..!like this.. the list never ends.. All these are films trying to influence the minds of innocent indian.. by trying to justify acts of terror..! BULL SHIT
